I was just wondering because im going to drive myself insane pretty soon

over it. While I am excerising ive started to keep track of the calories i

eat etc. but im confused about how many i should be eating. I know your

supposed to eat 500 less etc. Ive calculated it a few tims on the net one

place said for my weight i should be eating like 3000 cal to keep my current

weight [185] which of course I do not want to do, I dont eat anywhere near

that in a day . another place said like 2500 and yet another one that I was

looking at said something else. I was just wondering if any of you knew? or

could direct me somewhere that would help. I did that equation that helps

figure it out , but 3000 is just way to high.

I do have to go see my doctor soon so I will be asking her about it, but

in the mean time I was wondering if any of you could help :)

thanks krissy

hi krissy!

ok, here is the deal. it is impossible for any website or dr or anyone to

tell you how many calories you should eat because everyone is an individual

and unique. so, this is what you do:

- keep a food log for a week. be honest to your log... do not lie and do

not diet. eat as you normally would. write down every single thing that

you eat and its caloric value.

- at the end of the week, add up each day totals and divide by the number of

days that you kept the log in order to arrive at an average.

- take 250 calories off of that average to arrive at a new daily amount of

calories.

- exercise each day in order to burn an additional 250 calories.

- the net loss of 500 calories per day will equal 3500 calories less per

week.

- 3500 calories equals one pound.

- if you want to lose more than one pound per week then take more calories

off of your average and/or exercise more each day.

- it is healthy to lose 1-2 pounds per week. do not cut your calories in

order to lose more than that. if you cut back too much your body will go

into starvation mode and you wont lose a thing. weight loss has to be very

gradual to be permanent.

- keep eating at this number of calories and working out to burn this number

of calories until you reach a plateau (weight loss stalls).

- when that happens, lower your calories again by a small amount (say

100-150 calories) and also increase your exercise by a small amount (say add

an extra 10-15 minutes) -- or you can increase the intensity (start doing

advanced taebo for example) or change the type of exercises that you are

doing (start doing some weight training for example or other forms of

cardio).

- you will need to keep adjusting the amount of calories and exercise levels

that you are doing as you lose weight -- your body will require less

calories as you get smaller, until you reach your final goal size.

- continue to eat the final amount of calories and to burn the final amt of

calories through exercise in order to maintain your new weight.

- make your calories count for you!!! eat quality calories!!! this means

fruits, vegetables, lean meats, whole wheat. cut out all calories that have

no nutritional value -- sweets, fast food, chips, crackers, etc.

My favorite site is http://www.hussman.org/fitness/index.htm

I usually at 1200 to 1500 not including my 1 tbsp of flax a day. I'm 5'5 "

about 120 lbs if that helps at all :)

Thanks Cola, Colleen and

Your answers to my question helped out alot! what you guys said makes more

sense to me that what I had found online. I knew 3000 calories was way to

much :) but then I guess the equation they used the end answer would make

sense for someone who weighed less then me. Thanks again! At least now i

have some guidelines. Ive been doing well to. It's amazing how many things

one consumes shoots up your calorie total in a day. I think im going to

benefit from counting calories though. Totally makes me aware of what im

putting in my mouth :) and of course makes me think twice before i consume

something thats not so good for me. Although every once in awhile is alright

with me.

Today I did the 20 min workout of windsor pilates. I wasnt sure what to

expect but I definately can feel my muscles working even though its way

slower then taebo. I really think I need to take a break from taebo for a

week or so and do something else. Or at least only do taebo every other day

and pilates etc in between those days. I dont want to get sick of it. Im

still looking forward to getting capture the power. It sounds like something

I could definately use. Different temp and different focus etc :)

anywoo hope everyone is doing good. a I hope your eyes get better to

very soon. Doesnt sound like to much fun at all.
