I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which was determined to be due to

Hashimotos, about 15 years ago. I don't have all my lab results over the years

to quote, but they have always been within " normal " of the lab ranges. Over the

past 5 years or so, I have had unusual health issues which I never realized

might be related to Hashis. Severe depression, weight gain, acne, brain fog,

sleep disturbances, hair loss, restless legs, change in hair and skin texture,

menstrual problems. Some I could relate to getting older (I am now 47). Some I

could relate to issues in my life (a very unhappy marriage and eventual divorce

this past year). My doctor treated everything with a pill or the age or stress

excuse. This year when I went for my annual exam, I told her no more pills, no

more excuses - I need to find out why these things are happening and not getting

significantly better despite all we have tried. She referred me to a lab that

does extensive blood testing - neurotransmitters, vitamins, adrenals, leaky gut,

etc. Of course, tests were not paid for by insurance. I got a call a week ago

from the practictioner and we are meeting this afternoon. I was, of course,

anxious to know if they had found anything while also realizing the purpose of

the appointment was to discuss the results. She told me that they had found many

levels out of balance and that she could definitely help me to feel better. I

am very interested to find out the exact details of what was found, what can be

done, how much it will cost. It would be so nice to feel " normal " again, if such

a thing is even possible. I'll report back when I know more.
