Yes, because it's 2X that changes it. I use a teaspoon to measure it.

With 2X that would be too much. Seems like they're counting on us

messing up our clothes just like the makers of Tide and Cheer.

Yes I wonder how much we *really* need. Notice how they keep the cap

size big. I bet you many people put in a whole capful and never think

about it.

Anyway I called NEEDS and they are sending me a sample of 2 other

natural detergents, Planet and Biokleen. I also tried a little olive

oil based castille body soap in the washer on two shirts today. It

seems to have less of an odor so I suspect my body doesn't really like

7th Generation anymore. OTOH until I got my Eco Egg all my clothes

washed downstairs smelled like Downy and Tide detergent no matter what

I did, so I never got to actually smell 7th Generation until recently.

But it does have an odor.

I also talked to a filter expert about adapting the Sprite shower

filter but he thought it would be difficult, though he's willing to

look at my hose (I have an extra one) to see if he can splice it and

do it. He thought it would be easier to just put a carbon filter for

cold water under the sink. Then I could do chlorine free cold water

washes, and just use hot water for things I really want to

decontaminate or make sure they're thoroughly washed and germ free.

Jill,

Seventh Generation contains enzyme.

I have posted this before but will repeat. The supposed " natural "

enzyme is subtilisin, a protease made from genetically-modified

Bacillus subtilis.

Most manufacturers now include this protease in their formulations (to

facilitate digesting blood and food stains).

No one with mold allergy should use any detergent containing this enzyme.

Subtilisin is similar in structure to mold-protein enzymes which are

major allergens. When Procter and Gamble first started incorporating

subtilisin in detergents, the company ended up with an alomst 50% rate

of occupational asthma, ultimately proven to have been caused by

exposure to aerosolized subtilisin dust.

Inhalation of subtilisin is DANGEROUS for sensitized individuals. If

you have detergent residues left on clothing or sheets, you are

exposed to the enzyme on aerosolized lint 24/7.

If your dryer hose leaks, you are blowing the equivalent of mold into

your home every time you use a dryer.

ALL-Free has no enzymes or fragrance. Always read the label!!!

Thank you for that information. I'm highly allergic to mold.

So now I know why most of the detergents make the clothes smell moldy

to me.

Are there any detergents that don't have that enzyme in it? And where

is it listed as an ingredient here? What's it called?

http://www.seventhgeneration.com/ingredients#ingredients-for-nid-193

Am I correct that a year ago Seventh Generation didn't include such an

enzyme?

Llac, said 'All Free' has no enzymes. See end of his post.

I'll have to check the Tide product that advertises it is for sensitive

people ingredient list.

Jeff, you are a genius!!!!

I never saw this before. This explains everything!!!!!!!

I can't believe it.

I knew it wasn't mold, and it didn't smell like mold, yet it sometimes

" felt " like a mold hit. I just couldn't explain it.

Unbelievable.

Thank you!!!!!

I am going to post this on Debra Dadd's blog. Unbelievable. That is

great information!
