Guest guest
This is a question to all the practitioners who have experience in using the castor oil packs. I have a patient who has had a hydrocele for a few years, and does not want to have an operation as he and his wife are trying for a baby, but the hydrocele is becoming very uncomfortable. I wondered if castor oil packs would be a suitable treatment for this and for cysts in general? I would appreciate your view as I have never used the packs myself so am a bit unsure of when they are suitable. Thanks ---
Guest guest
hi anna  i've used castor oil packs though not for a hydrocele and found them to be very useful for a variety of situations. i can't see any reason why it would be contra-indicated in this case. i would say once or twice a day and for a couple of days followed, once the liquid is close enough to the surface of the testes to be visible, by aspiration with a clean needle, gauze etc then clean with myrrh/calendula 90 once it has finished draining, and then dress the wound with myrrh or hydrastis powder or powder of hydrastis checking/changing the dressing once a day to make sure there is no infection.  i'm unclear whether you have been actually treating his hydrocele or whether he comes to you for some other reason but depending on the cause the above may or may not fix the problem.  however i thought surgery for this was quite routine and almost risk-free. anyone have any info re this because i should have thought surgery would almost certainly not harm his chances of conception but would love to know if i am wrong about this.  anyway, all the best.  kind regards, geoff Subject: RE: hydrocele and castor oil packs To: ukherbal-list Date: Tuesday, 31 August, 2010, 20:09  This is a question to all the practitioners who have experience in using the castor oil packs.
