Shunt vs. Blocked CSF Flow

Need advise from group. When I picked up Mollee after school yesterday she

informed me that something had happened that had scared the ?X??X? out of her.

She never wants me to call the doctor so I was immediately on edge. She was

sitting in class and had her head bent to the right (not touching her shoulder).

When she lifted her head she felt and heard a pop accompanied by a brief, but

quick lost of vision. She said it only lasted a few seconds. She does have a

VP shunt on the right which has led to slit ventricle syndrome. She has been

decompressed twice since Feb 06. Last May her CINE showed:

1. Limited cerebrospinal fluid flow at the pons/medulla junction due

to platybasia.

2. Limited cerebrospinal fluid flow dorsal to the cord.

3. Tip of odontoid indents junction of the pons and medulla.

Don't know if this is a possible shunt problem (placed 4/06), cervical

instability issue, or CSF flow being compromised more. She has also complained

lately that she doesn't feel/realize that her hands and feet are cold to the

touch unless she has touched someone else and they have told her they are ice

cold. Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated. Like most of us that have

children with Chiari I try very had not to be paranoid, but right now I have a

cold chill running through my body telling me something is not quite right.

Thanks to all for any input.
