great suggestion

I chicken out altogether and mentally translate it as " long acting bronchodilator " , as opposed to a " short acting bronchodilator " , both of which take a heck of a lot longer to type! lol

Ann,

You make it sound easy although I doubt it is. I'd like to join weight watchsers. DH and I have terrible eating habits. We eat out 90% of the time and that is not good I know. I can't see well enough to cook much any more. And I haven't driven since 1990 cuz of my blindness. I know I could join online but I'd like to go to the meetings once a week. Do they have meetings where a bunch of people go or is it mainly a one on one basis ? I'm very interested in WW. I need to loose about 40 lbs that I've put on since quitting the cigarettes 3 years ago.

That's amazing that your asthma and your sleeping has improved since being on the WW. Wonderful !! How long have you been a member and how much have you lost so far ?

Thanks ANn,

Love n Hugs

The greatest part about weight watchers is that there are NO forbidden foods. There used to be way back in the day when they first started, but now it is completely different. Everything has a point value except non starchy fruits and vegetables. Each person gets a point target that they should be eating per day...it automatically adjusts with your weight. So, because Im point stingy, I naturally gravitate toward the zero points stuff...hence I get more fruits and veggies in. Lunch today was 94% fat free popcorn with seasoning...6 cups is like 2 points. Im saving my points for later when we go out. Activity earns points too. And...to keep this on track, Im seeing improvements in both my asthma and my sleep. Ann

medication with LABA

Hi:

Have any of you been unable to tolerate the asthma meds with LABA and if so what did you do?

I'm on 500/50 Advair twice a day and I have had to increase my Valium to tolerate it and now I am on an herbal remedy just to allow my body to tolerate the medicine and I'm not breathing any better. It improved for a while but any improvement has gone away.

I'm doing very short workouts per the doctor's instructions and in order to breathe when I am finished I have the choice of taking my rescue inhaler which would only increase the jitters or take the Valium. I take the Valium.

Thanks for any help.

Wonderful news and hope you continue on diet and exercise. What you described is what we have been doing for the past 14+ years ever since I was told not to eat anything containing any fat content in it. Unfortunately I'm not too happy looking so thin at the moment and then with my not exercising regularly as late I have been losing all my muscles so whatever you do while you are losing weight make sure to exercise daily if possible. My getting thin did not just happen; it was happening very slowly each year and I promise you that you will also see those subtle changes. The best part as you said is feeling so much more healthy.Best of luck to you,SharonFrom:" Wolf" Subject:Re: medication with LABADate:July 28, 2011 12:21:41 PM EDTTo:asthma Congratulations on your weight loss! I also started some exercise...nothing outrageous, but more than I was doing. Sharon, I'm not a doctor but I don't know of anyone who says don't have any fat. I have always heard that some fat is healthy. When I was ill and became quite thin it was depressing. I never thought I would say being thin was depressing but when you are not exercising or feeling healthy, the thin is not a good look.

Have you chatted with a doctor to revisit that decision lately?2011/8/12 piaybyear

It's easier if I tell you basically what I eat every single day .... Also, I have lactose intolerance, then have to be careful with what I eat because of the IBS, gallbladder/stones, primary biliary cirrhosis and for those reasons, stay away from meat or anything fattening. Anyhow .... BreakfastCheerios (w/lactaid milk) & banana (can no longer have blueberries & strawberries because of the acid reflux) ....Plain oatmeal & lactaid milk2 glasses of water .....LunchTurkey wrap w/lettuce, spinach leaves and cucumber (no mayo) Pear2 glasses of water(if I don't have the wrap then I'll alternate and have tuna from the package on 7grain bread, lettuce & spinach leaves)Nosh Cantaloupe/Honeydew and sometimes watermelonDinnerEither Salmon or else chicken cutlet and once in a while scrod, flounder, tilapia ...Steamed fresh vegetables and brown rice. Rarely do I have potatoes.salad but because of the acid reflux stopped putting a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil on & so I eat it dry ... ugh..... Also as you know, no more tomatoes 2 glasses of water & thencup of green or black tea & a cookieLater on .....dried apricots, (had to cut out pop corn ... and am tired of rice cakes .... Tofutti fudgical ..... then much later we'll have cereal w/ banana again and that's it....Don't know if this is what you're eating but am very curious what you eat in a day ...Take care,SharonFrom:"willothewispl@..." I agree. When I see a thin, bony woman like one I stood behind in the post

office line the other day, I always assume she is sick and I should keep my

distance in case what she has wrong with her is communicable. lol
