I avoid self help books that are not clearly act consistent, mostly because they may not be supported by science. Go to the values section of any of the most popular ACT books and see how pleasure stacks up and let me know what you decide. In the process you will likely get insight into your China dilemma. Hint. What do you want people, like your wife, to say about you at your funeral? BillSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Re: Re: Anticipatory AnxietyI am in the same boat. I have a hard time being present with my emotional pain. I've had small successes but nothing consistent. (I've also been on an SSRI, which no longer works, so my emotions can be very

strong.)Today I was supposed to go to a therapist. First my mind told me that I was going to have a panic attack on the drive there (I anticipated it and I visualized it), so I started rapid breathing. So I didn't go. Then my mind was happy to tell me what a coward I was for not going. I know I need to defuse but I am allowing my sensations to have control. The fear continues to overwhelm me at times.~ lisaOn Wed, Oct 6, 2010 at 10:48 AM, Osvaldo > wrote: ... While everything you write is true (and well-said), I guess what's getting to me is the difficulty of letting go. I'm having the thought that I know better than this and I should be able to let go. But I still

can't. I guess this should be expected after the dampening down of undesired emotions with psychiatric drugs. ------------------------------------For other ACT materials and list serves see www.contextualpsychology.orgIf you do not wish to belong to ACT_for_the_Public, you may unsubscribe by sending an email to ACT_for_the_Public-unsubscribe@...!
