Hi Norma,

My husband and some others on here have had this same seizure type attack with

their LOs. I don't know what the cause, just a brain malfunction I guess. My

husband has had these episodes for about 4 years monthly. He has been checked

for all things, but nothing shows in the tests to cause this. It's just the

unexplained loss of consciousness that is in the LBD booklet I guess. Jan

Oh, Jan, I never heard that before. Had no idea. But this actually

happened to my Mom about 3 weeks ago and the caregiver called 911. It

turned out she had a fever and they looked for an infection which they

didn't find for almost 5 days (a staph infection in a sore on her heel)..

Hi Emma,

Yes, fainting can be a part of LBD. It is called, Orthostatic Hypotension.

The blood pressure drops upon standing or it can be caused from dehydration

and other things.

Also, there is unexplained loss of consciousness also found in LBD, which

my husband has and it happens on the toilet a lot. Mostly when he is

sitting in his wheelchair or on toilet. It almost looks like a seizure, but

it is not. He has been given testing with eeg and other things for seizures

and it comes out negative in all testing. The pamplet on LBD found either

in the links or files, I forget which one, has unexplained loss of

consciousness listed. My husband's arms and body jump and then he loses

consciousness. Everything goes limp. It was scary to see at first, but now

I am used to it. It averages 1-2 times a months. My husband has had this

for about 4 years now. The most I have seen him unconscious is to the count

of 18 and then he is out of it, but just a few days ago he had this seizure

type thing happen and didn't come out of it to the count of 18. It went

beyond. He was on the toilet at the nh and I had to press the call button

in the bathroom to get a CNA to

help him off the toilet and onto the bed. He never did respond for me, I

told the head nurse and I was on my way home and she went in to see him..

She ran out to my car to say she called his name and he opened his eyes..

She asked him if he was ok and he shook his head yes, so he responded for

her. Your grandma could have low blood pressure when standing or she could

have attacks as my husband does. Orthostatic Hypotension is more common

with LBD. There are a few that have responded to my description of my

husband's attacks and have the same experience......Jan

Hi all!

We had another weird incident yesterday and I was wondering if anyone else

had ever seen

anything like this in their loved one.

Grandma fell yesterday while in her bathroom alone but after talking to her

about it I think

she may have passed out/fainted. She doesn't remember what happened AT ALL

and was

EXTREMELY dazed/confused immediately following the incident. As far as we

can tell she did

not hit her head so the dazedness didn't come from something like that. She

was dazed like

that for the rest of yesterday but is just fine this morning. As fine as

she ever is anyway.

This is the second unexplained " fall " she has had in the last 6 weeks.

Is this kind of fainting normal to LBD patients? Has anyone seen this

before? What did you

do about it? I got her an appointment with her senior care doctor but I'm

wondering what

you all think.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Emma
