Guest guest
Hello Regarding your NS saying it's " rare " - The key quesiton is how long were you laying flat and motionless after the myelogram? My husband had this problem during his 2nd myelogram. The reason he got the leak is b/c the careless doctor flipped him over too fast immediately after the myelogram and let him go home after 10 minutes when you are supposed to lay motionless for a 8 hours after the procedure. He also had a emergency blood patch - it took about one day for the excrutiating pain to go away and about one week or so for other pain. (We know of 3 local hospitals that make you stay motionless for 12 hours then send you home.) We also complained to our neurosurgeon and he was shocked that the doctor did this. However, he has had symptoms that he never had before or that have gotten worse since he had this procedure. Hopefully, you will have a speedy recovery!! Subject: myelogram & blood patch To: Date: Wednesday, December 30, 2009, 9:11 PM  So i had my myelogram done on Monday and let me say, I had the worst reaction to it possible. Extremely severe spinal headaches and constant vomiting. I couldn't sit up, eat, drink or even go to the bathroom without dropping to my knees in pain and vomiting. Has anyone else had a reaction this bad? I went in for my blood patch Tues. morning and barely made it back to the hospital. Once that was done, I do feel better, but I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I had 2 CSF leaks. Follow up MRI in a month and hoping the blood patch takes and helps the Chiari. If any one has had the same reaction, please let me know. My NS said is was very rare to have such a bad reaction. Hoping you all have a pain free New Years..... Guest guest
I know my sister had a bad reaction about 20 years ago after a myelogram or maybe it was a LP. She had a blood patch, but still had to be inverted for hours and hours hanging upside down. She swore she'd never have that test again. > > So i had my myelogram done on Monday and let me say, I had the worst reaction to it possible. Extremely severe spinal headaches and constant vomiting.
