Guest guest
Hi, all, This past Wednesday I was given the devastating news that my mother has metastatic ovarian cancer and a life expectancy of approximately six months. Because of this and the fact that my maternal grandmother died of breast cancer, and I have had severe cervical dysplasia and three colonoscopies with precancerous polyps, my gynecologist suggested that I seek genetic counseling to see if I have the genes that predispose to cancer. My father also died at age 49 of lung cancer. Has anyone ever had this type of counseling and genetic testing? If so are there any pros or cons? Thanks for any info. Guest guest
Hi Colleen, I am so sorry to hear about you mother. My best wishes to you and your mother and your family. Do we know if iodine in this kind of situation would be any help at all? I had genetic testing for Celiac and Gluten intolerance. I have a Celiac gene and a gluten intolerance gene. I know this is not the same kind of testing you will do but I have found the information gained extremely beneficial. It is so good to know and stop second guessing all the time. Guest guest
I'm aware of a woman diagnosed with 3 types of thyroid cancer cured (I believe), and of course Dr Derry's curing 3rd stage breast cancer using iodine/iodide. Dr Brownstein et al are doing an ongoing cancer study using iodine/iodide. Colleen, in a word, I-O-D-O-R-A-L. It is indeed " worth a shot " . If I had known of it when my mother was still alive (she had brain cancer), we would have done what we could with it. Guest guest
Thanks for the website, Sam. I will check it out. I must admit that I don't know what iodine is used for in thyroid treatment especially Hashi's. My endo has not mentioned it. Guest guest
Sam, I sorry that your mother passed away from brain cancer. It must have been very difficult for all concerned.
