Guest guest
Subject: help, another neurosurgeon, another different diagnosis(long) To: chiari Date: Thursday, July 23, 2009, 1:38 PM i have posted many times before about my son jordan. in 2002 had an arachnoid cyst from c6-t11 removed(he was three). he was also dioagnosed with hydromyelia(t4-t10) as well. in 2005 he started to have headaches, but neurologist or nsg would not do anything. in 2007 finally a nsg from clevelan did a mri, and found 6mm chiari. jordans symptoms are severe ha's at least 3x a week. blacking out spells, right sided arm goes numb, left leg has shooting pain in it, has balance issues, and seizures. doctor decided not to do surgery because he had good flow around foramem magnum, but there was decreased flow in fourth ventricle, and crowding of his basal cistern. in 2008 mri says chiari is 5-6mm, and there is now no flow seen in fourth ventricle, and hydromyelia has grown, and now has slight scoliosis. read at cleveland clinic, same doctor. went for third opinion at childrens of akron, never got to meet nsg, just ordered mri, and then called with results. says his mri is 4-5mm herniation(won't call it a chiari), and says the brains ventricles are normal. how can this happen and jordan have more ha's and more symptoms. they say the flow is still good. mri report really reads everything is okay. his neurologist is just as confused with the results, and is wondering why a spinal mri was not done at the same time, so is now ordering one of those. i am confused and frustrated. i would be happy with the results, if his pain was more severe, and having more symptoms. do not no what to do next. HELP PLEASE.thank you in advance , shelly
