Guest guest
I thought some of you might be interested in a very interesting discussion broadcast in a partnership between The Wellcome Collection and the BBC World Service. The programme is ostensibly about Prof. Kenyon's research into the genetics of ageing but also gives a compelling insight into the genetic relationship between sugar/starch consumption and reduced longevity and ill health - or perhaps more importantly low insulin & IGF-1 expression and good health. It is available to listen to on an iTunes podcast under BBC World Service, " Discovery " and the programme series is called " Exchanges at the Frontier " . Alternatively go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/programmes/2009/12/091201_exchanges_frontier_l\ ist.shtml where you can listen to the full one hour event. It is a fascinating discussion, after which I guarantee you'll be avoiding all chocolate bars!! A lot of Prof. Kenyon's peer reviewed research papers on this subject are available at http://kenyonlab.ucsf.edu/html/publications.html, well worth a look. (also very good for those Px who want a rational explanation for a low sugar diet)
