She used it on him, also late stage, on his bed sore{s} with tremendous success... " Then in response to the question about whether iodine is available or not, Susie wrote her friend to verify the mixture. She posted the following on July 5th: " Imogene, I just received this from my friend in reference to help with bed sores. Her daughter is a nurse. Susie It's Mylanta and Betadine (or Iodine). Sounds lot more of the same for you. Lorraine I just have a moment and I have a question for you. What was in that bed sore cure...Mylanta and what../ I have a person on the Lewy body site that has an issue. I'll get back to you with a story or two but right now I'm on poop patrol.. Susie " I am positive it was intended to be used as a topical treatment, NOT for drinking. >Is Betadine the same as Iodine Tincture? I have found >Iodine Tincture, but have not seen anything that says >Betadine. > > Betadine is ordinarily available in pharmacies and I have found it available to order on line. Betadine contains 10% povidone-iodine. *PLEASE NOTE: *Betadine and tincture of iodine are not the same thing. Tincture of iodine is NOT safe to use. Tincture of Iodine is poisonous! It dangerously inflames mucus membranes and if put on a wound it can result in a toxic level of iodine absorption. >Is a bed sore the same as a pressure sore? > > Yes. Heels and other places where the bone is close to the skin are prone to getting pressure sores from resting too long in one place, and they will begin as reddened areas. >Please let me know how much of the Iodine and Mylanta >to mix together. Is it equal amounts? > See above - it doesn't give proportions, just the color the mixture should be. Hope this helps! jacqui (from Puget Sound)
