Hello all.

Had an appointment today for a checkup. Blood work

is ok and symptoms for the most part are ok.

I asked my doc about the continuing hair loss. Her reply

was, " well, all of the patients I currently treat for

hypothyroidism do NOT have issues with hair loss. "

And she thinks it is unrelated.

And there must be another reason for it. Probably

heredity...

You can imagine how hopeless I felt. My hair was always

long and beautiful. Naturally curly. And relatively thick.

A year and a half ago, after sleeping for four days straight,

A friend helped me get into the shower. I would say at least

half of my hair caught in the drain! Both my friend kelly and

I were horrified. We both screamed, she had never seen anything

like it. It had to be cut just below my ears to comb it.

After seeing a few doctors my diagnosis of hypothyroidsm was made.

I have been on meds for a year now.

I dont know everything, but it seems to me that " pattern " hereditary

balding does not occur in a single afternoon!

Or am I wrong?

I don't think I am the only one in this group with hair loss issues.

Are all of us experiencing " genetic balding? " How could that be?

How could it be " unrelated " if many of us experience this?

Now I don't what to do...

Chriss.

Chriss, please note the post I just did from Dr. Surikov. I'm pretty sure

that's what's wrong with me, and I've got the adrenal glandulars to treat

it, but, since I haven't had the testing for adrenals, I stopped them. I

did that because I couldn't go up on the Armour, plus take the adrenals.

I'm pretty sure that's it. I'm going to restart and hope for the best here.

Your hair loss may be from both thyroid and adrenal issues.

Get a new doctor!

Even if there is a genetic component, hypothyroidism DOES cause

hairloss. Heck, it says on the Synthroid info that it can cause

hairloss; the Merck manual lists hairloss as a symptom. Your doctor

is pretty ignorant to say something like that. Even if all her

patients miraculously don't have this symptom, it doesn't mean it

isn't one of the most common ones.
