Guest guest
, That's great. In Massachusetts, we get $500 every 6 months for respite. We take the money in what's called flexible benefits. Because of the *large* number of children in my home, I am hard pressed to find someone to come in and care for them without using up all the money at once! LOL We usually use the extra money for vacations, like going to Houston. We have been fortunate that Matt's parents and his sister are willing to take the kids and help out when I am in a pinch and need help. My own family is too spread out geographically to be helpful, not that they necessarily would help even if they were close. Not to mention that I haven't spoken to several of them in a long time. Guest guest
Janet, well I found out I'm eligible for $150.00 a month for respite. Now, I have to find someone I'm happy with. If it's a nurse through the VON (n Order of Nurses- they come and take care of ppl at home, mostly old ppl, but they could be trained), and I can only have them for a few hours because of their cost, that's okay with me. Quality is better than quantity for me.
