Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I was gone when the new policy was discussed. I received an e-mail from Dr. Oro's office today and would like to share this with the list. If you have questions, you will need to ask Dr. Oro's office, not the list. Dr. Oro' asked that I contact you and let you know of our new protocol for Chiari patients. We no longer require a film review for new Chiari patients. Our new protocol requires that a patient contact the office initially by phone, then send either a radiology report or Neurology report that indicates a patient has Chiari, Tethered Cord or Syringomyelia. We do not evaluate for Chiari, a patient must already have the diagnosis, so cerebellar ectopia does not qualify. The herniation needs to be of 5mm or greater, so if a patient has a report of cerebellar ectopia, they should ask that a measurement be taken by the radiologist to verify the mm of herniation. Kathleen Diagnosed with CM/hydrocephalus 1990, decompression/shunt. Since diagnosed with craniocervical instability, Ehlers Danlos, and Tethered Cord Sydrome, surgery for everything but EDS since 1998. http://chiariconnectioninternational.com/
