Guest guest
Hi all, I had been grieving that because of the dementia, Dad could no longer read the Tom Clancy or Louis L'Amour novels that he loves. My husband had been collecting " Great Illustrated Classics " for our children since we homeschool. They have simplified versions of classic literature, with illustrations and large print. We have a whole shelf of these, since DH was so enthusiastic. They include titles like " Red Badge of Courage " , " Crusoe " , and " Little Women " . Well, my DS took one along to read in case there was " down time " as I was in charge of a meeting last night. My Dad picked up DS's book and discovered HE COULD read it! Hurrah! The simpler version with large print seems to help for now. We have been using audio books, and Dad can work the CD player still, so that helps too. Just thought I would mention these discoveries, in case these tidbits could help someone else have some quality of life in their dementia years.
