Guest guest
, Does Aubrie have to put the headphones on for a hearing test? Here we do behavioural testing, Kennedy sits on my knee and faces forward (with her back to me) and looks at the audie (who is behind the glass), she plays the sounds at one side or the other and Kennedy looks or does something else to indicate she heard it. We have become really used to her " ways " when she hears something if she doesn't look. Sometimes, she just stops breathing momentarily, that's how we know. Her breathing is loud and when she wants to hear something, her breathing will quiet right down. Maybe you could look at something like that to get some better results. Kennedy has been tested a lot, probably once a month or every other month, so the audie really knows when she is actually hearing the noises or when it's " iffy " ... Good luck..I know this has been troublesome for you... No, it is not clear cut! This decision is a real pain. We go for one more behavioral hearing test tomorrow morning. I hope to get into a good discussion with the audiologist and try to come to some decision. This woman has tested Aubrie about 4 times already since her birth, so she knows her as well as an audiologist can at this point. I've tried to get Aubrie to listen to her music thru earphones these past few days in preparation, but she'll have nothing to do with it. Perhaps the test won't give us much more info. Guest guest
Michele, I think Kennedy has had the " flat " thing you are talking about. Our audie calls it something different. Impedence is what she calls it, but I believe it's the same thing that you describe. Hers has been " flat " on occasion, and then fine again, and this is without fluid. Probably another CHARGE-ism... Guest guest
I have never seen a normal tympanogram on Ali. Always flat, usually she has fluid, but even with no fluid and no tubes it is flat> Hmmmmm... Scio, Oregon
Guest guest
Patty had a flat Tympanogram since birth. They said it was due to her atresia and cleft palate. Those made the eustachian tube to not be able to equal out the pressure in the middle ear. So, flat tymp. Bonnie
