Jan, I'm so glad for you to have shared such a talkative time with Jim. He

continues to

amaze as much as you do. Another positive day of memories.

presidents and

that Oswald assassinated Kennedy, was the 7th President and named

quite a few presidents and the number that they were in progression. He was

correct on all

accounts. Jim was a 7th and 8th grade History teacher and I guess it was all

coming back

to him today. I don't know what brought it all on, but it was so interesting to

hear his mind

working, it's like the lights turned on today. He is not on any of the memory

medications

such as; Aricept, Exelon, Namenda and is in my calculations in his 7th year of

LBD, but

could be more. It was so exciting for me to hear him talk about the presidents.

I can't even

remember there succession anymore, except for the common most known ones.

Anyway,

the mind can still dig up these things from time to time and I wanted to share

experiences...........Jan

Janet,

So happy your husband more talkative

That has to be good news, always.

But you say he is not on any memory medication?

Why his doctor does not think he could benefit?

I had no idea some loved ones not on such

medication, my mother has been on for 4 years.

Take care

Jan,

Thanks for sharing this wonderful moment. Its so nice that you get to enjoy Jim

at home a few days a week now. I think we caregivers learn to take one day at a

time and those good days we appreciate as very special gifts.

It is so good to hear you and Jim have some fairly good and stable time

together. And I bet it is exciting to hear his mind working like you described.

You deserve it as you have worked so hard for it to be better.

Just sharing some good news for a change

Just want to share this news about today with my husband, Jim.

Saturday to Monday ( Half of Monday)

presidents and that Oswald assassinated Kennedy, was the 7th

Wonderful, Jan. I am so happy to hear that about Jim.

My Don is having more confusion problems.

Yesterday, we had to go downtowen to my lung specialist, then to an Ins

office. It was two P.M. when we got home. We were tired. He slept awhile. Later

in the evening when we watched TV, then turned it off after the news to visit,

and he was out of it. He couldn't think of anything, and couldn't talk a

proper sentence. He was all jumbled up. It was so distressing to both of us, but

all I

said is, " Honey, it's alright, you'll get it right later. " He never did. He

was fine today when we went to our doctor that he loves as I do. He joked and

played with her. But, she still turned to me for specifics, and told him, " I

confirm my information by her. " And nodded and looked at me.

My darling wears a long pad in his underwear if I am sure to put it there,

to catch the leaks, otherwise He can't make it fit, and doesn't use it. So I

have to be there to insure his clothes stay dry. The leaks aren't bad but just

enough to stain up his clothes, not to mention how they would smell if not

washed right away.

He can't completely dress himself, but is fair enough to get by. Some of his

combinations are not the best, but at least he is good about fixing it if I

point out that such and such pants with that shirt would look better.

One thing is cute. He has and old Stetson western hat that has character,

believe me. Anyway,

When we go anywhere he wears that thing, his boots, and carries a brief case

even when there is nothing in it. Those are his dress props. I love it.

Because he feels better being the business man

in Texas.

Imogene,

Its so sweet that Don still wears his hat. I am sure its very comfortable and

reassuring for him to have his old favorite. My mother can no longer dress

herself but she usually has me redress her when I go over as she usually doesn't

care for my dads choices. He will dress her in the morning but I don't believe

he asks her what she would like to wear. I always give her choices and I think

she still appreciates it. She still likes to have her hair and makeup done too

and I do it most days. She is going to daycare on Tuesday and Thursday now so I

don't see her those two days ( I really like having those two days to do my own

work) and she told me she doesn't like going without her makeup and hair fixed.

My dad tries to help her on those days but he is not very good with the eyebrow

pencil and eyeliner.

I am glad I can still do something that pleases her.
