Guest guest
Well I just got back from the eye doctor with Isabella. He thought she would need glasses by now but he is putting it off and wants to see her in 6 months again. He thinks she is doing really well. I do have to mention he said something strange. I told him her eyes droop a little when she is sleepy. He said that is a sign of being sleepy or that she is getting sick. He said if her eyes would droop permanently they would do an eye lift. An eye lift I thought. You know these doctors say things and before my brain can process what they are saying they leave the room. Has anyone ever heard of this? Guest guest
Sue When I was born my left eyelid drooped so badly that it did not open. I had to have surgery to open it. What they did was lift it slightly and put in a stitch for it to heal. I had another surgery when I was 13 to lift it more (as I grew I needed the other surgery) I really needed one more surgery, but never had it and just learned how to apply makeup where it isn't as noticable. But, in Isabella's case, I don't think that she needs surgery. Everyone droops their eyes when they are tired or not feeling good, especially babies, and this doesn't sound like a case where she would do this all the time. I wouldn't worry about it. Guest guest
My daughter had ptosis and has had surgery 2 times. First surgery at 1 month and then one day a year later she woke up in the morning and by noon she couldn't open her eyelid. She had surgery within 2 weeks and now her eyebrow opens her eyelid. She will evidently need an eyelid lift. Maybe it's the same as my daughter. My daughter is now almost 6 and that 2nd surgery is still holding strong. They used new tennis shoe material. By the way, this daughter doesn't have DS or MDS...she has Trisomy 10q.
