Guest guest
Here is the url for the warning article. http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/ucm256581.htm One place on the article states to not exceed 40 mg. simvastatin with diltiazem and another place states to not exceed 10 mg. simvastatin with diltiazem. But since I am only taking 10 mg. simvastatin I am not concerned about it. I asked my doctor about it and she said take it or not as you like. But she didn't look it up and just said it off the top of her head so I don't put much credence in what she said. I recently changed doctors and the previous doctor said I had a blockage in my femoral artery so I have decided to continue the simvastatin 10 mg. for the time being. If you are taking more than 10 mg. simvastatin you should get that clarified because the FDA warning says two different things making it confusing. I am presently taking 10 mg. simvastatin along with 90 mg. diltiazem. Guest guest
Thanks Ora, I have been taking high doses of each since November 2010. I was a very sick person in the hospital. I do have a follow up appointment with my cardiologist in Aug. I will definitely ask him if I still need to take them. Since I have had no side effects, I don't see a need to see him sooner than my appointment in Aug. I'm really more concerned not to take the medications than to take them. I read the warning article you posted and also the new one that cautions doctors not to prescribe high doses of simvastatin to patients who have not taken simvastatin longer than 1 year. Thanks again, donachi39 Here is the url for the warning article.http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/ucm256581.htm One place on the article states to not exceed 40 mg. simvastatin withdiltiazem and another place states to not exceed 10 mg. simvastatinwith diltiazem.
