VERY IMPORTANT::::

You follow your doctor's instructions. If he wants you to take one

puff, you take one puff. There are several different formulations of

Advair as well as one or more of the diskus type.

You should be good with one inhalation...but if you arent sure, it wont hurt to do it twice. The advair discus meds are in a blister pack..when you activate it, you break one dose open at a time so you could only get that dose. Advair is breath activated so the med will be sucked into your lungs with your breath.

It wont hurt to breathe the blister pack twice...since you can only get one dose from it. The discus only allows for one dose to be inhaled at a time because the doses are contained in a blister pack type container. When you slide the lever over, it rotates the dose and pops the blister so that you can breathe it in.

As long as you dont actuate the inhaler (any) more than the right amount of times, it wont matter how many times you breathe in because you will only get one dose. I think you are confusing breathing in with actually activating the inhalers Ora...

Btw...for anyone interested, in this video some guy takes apart an Advair inhaler and it shows the inner workings..

We were discussing using a spacer with the HFA inhaler.

SPACERS ARE NOT USED WITH THE BLISTER PACK.

When asked about inhaling twice I did not know whether she

meant using the HFA or the diskus.

Thanks Ann. I actually just wasn't explaining myself well. I know only to rotate it once. Just wanted to make sure I was getting all of the medication with one inhale.

Thanks much.

This is advice from asthma UK on how to use a spacer: http://www.asthma.org.uk/all_about_asthma/medicines_treatments/spacers.htmlAnd this is how to use each type of inhaler: http://www.asthma.org.uk/using_your_inhaler.html Not all will be relevant as someone on here has said before you can't get the inhaler my salbutamol is in in America (or you couldn't a few years ago, anyway), and you may have styles of inhaler we don't, but it's got all the common ones on thereJennTha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me.

Ora...please dont yell at me. I think we were talking about using spacers in general, at least I was. The same thing applies whether its with HFA Advair or any other HFA inhaler....as long as you dont actuate the inhaler, you can inhale as many times as you want- you cant get more medication than was dispensed.

I was surprised that you inhale slowly with the albuteral inhaler but quickly with the Advair type inhaler.KathyTo: asthma Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2011 2:19 AMSubject: Re: One or two puffs with advair

Depends on the inhaler - my salbutamol is a metered dose inhaler, but you don't press the canister down. It has a mechanism inside that pulls the canister down when you breathe in, so can't be used with a spacer. Though hte end doesn't fit anywayJennTha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! If you have a look at the link I sent earlier t the Asthma UK website and hte inhaler demos, it's the Easibreathe inhalerFor some reason, the standard MDI salbutamol inhaler doesn't work for me, and this does, even though it's exactly the same ingredients and propellant. I also had this one when I was still just taking beclometasone (Qvar), as the standard one was so strong it made me cough really badly, but again, this one is fine as it's a much finer spray. Unfortunately they've not produced one for seretide, and the canister is a different shapeJennTha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. Sorry, Ann. I was not yelling at you. Caps are also used for

emphasis. She was apparently referring to a blister pack which does

not use a spacer.
