Guest guest
This is really long but this has been 's week: ’s headache started Sunday around noon. Maxalt was given at onset of headache. No relief occurred.  Mondaygave Verapamil, Naproxen, and Maxalt. No relief occurred.  Tuesdaymorning gave Verapamil and Naproxen as usual along with another Maxalt tablet. Called Dr. Mar’s office was told to give her 600 mg of Ibuprofen and another Maxalt tablet. No relief. Called the doc back was given prescription for Prochlorperazine (10 MG) 1 tablet and Ketolorac (10 MG) 2 tablets. Had no relief. Told me that her neck and back hurt really badly. I gave her a massage.   Wednesday morning I called Dr. Mar’s office back , call was returned around 2:30 and I was told that the doctor did not think this was a regular headache( they thought something was causing her to have a headache) and thought that I should take her to the ER and ask them to find out what was causing the headache. I did that at JerseyvilleCommunityHospitalafter I had done all my home chores. When we got to the hospital we had to wait, after a while she was given a Vicoden tablet at 6pm. At 7:15 she was put in a room and asked how she felt she told them, “no better.† When the doctor came to see her I tried to tell them that I would like to find out what was causing the headache but I was ignored and the doctor told the nurse to get a shot of Demerol (50 mg) and Phenergan (25 mg).  freaked out and it took 3 nurses, me, and about 15 minutes to get it in her. After about hour and a half she started getting drowsy and dizzy also. The nurses kept coming in to check on her, when the doctor finally came back in she noticed that was trying to go to sleep so she declared that she was good and probably just needed a good nights sleep at home in her bed, so she was going to send her home. She sent us home with 2 Vicoden tablets to give in the morning and then again in 4 hours if needed.  Thursday Slept until 9:00. When she woke she said her head hurt worse than it did before we went to the ER last night. I gave her no meds all day because I had someone on the Chiari yahoo group tell me she could be having a “rebound†headache and it might be the meds causing the headache. Her headache never let up all day, in the evening she asked me to massage her back and neck told me it felt well but only if I kept doing it that it started hurting again after I would quit. I looked at her neck and just above the hairline it was beet red and felt very warm. I went and got a bag of green beans from the freezer and wrapped it in a small towel and had her lay on her stomach and put the green beans on the area just above her hairline and she almost let out a sigh and said it felt wonderful and shortly after that she fell asleep.  FridayShe is still the same I am at work and will be home around 4:00 but I do not have Internet access at home but I am going to try to go to the Library on Saturday and Monday to check and see if anyone else has responded to any of my posts with information.  I have called her primary care doctor. She has an appointment with her PA, that I like, to be seen so hopefully they will order a Full Spine and Head MRI. As soon as I get those reports I am sending them to Dr. Frim in Chicago. Hopefully she can get in to see him soon but I really need to get help for her immediately. So please send me help if you can if not please pray for to receive some relief.
