I have been digging around for some information lately (of course due to issues

I have been having!) and came across an interesting article. While it mainly

dealt with psychiatric issues related to dopamine uptake and reception in the

brain, it made some little bells go off regarding us ACM people.

Here is the link:

http://www.mcmanweb.com/dopamine.html

Here is part of what makes it so interesting to us...dopamine has close

links/ties to many issues like Restless Leg Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, ADHD, and

Chronic Fatigue (anyone's interest piqued yet?) as well as the motor dysfunction

in Parkinson's related tremors. Some of this I already knew, but what I didn't

know until I read the article was that most of the dopamine producing neurons

are located in areas around the brainstem...where ACM is a problem. Dopamine is

even responsible for regulating prolactin! It has also long been implicated in

depressive disorders as dopamine and serotonin work hand in hand.

It makes sense to me that some of the unexplained motor function problems with

legs/arms etc...may be related to low dopamine or some other dopamine uptake

issue related to our compressed brain.

Anyway, since I know some of you have ACM kids with ADD/ADHD and other suffer

from Fibro/CFS and the like I thought you might find this interesting. I plan on

bringing it up to my neuro and see if some L-Theanine supplements or something

like that (precursors to Dopamine and Norepinephrine) migh be useful.

Be well,

Lainie
