Guest guest
I do all of the time and for longest time it boggled my doctors before anyone knew it was Chiari. They thought it was autoimmune. But tired of being boggled, I did a lot of research and found that brainstem compression can cause fever. I tried to pull up some quick research, this is what I see right now http://www.bioline.org.br/pdf?ni05060 can't remember if posting links is allowed on this site but it talks about mechanical compression of the hypothalmus (another part of the brain) causes 'central fever' or fever of no known origin. Reducing pressure can help sometimes for me like elevating legs, cervical traction, taking diamox, wearing cervical collar... The research says it is cytokine or prostaglandin related but sometimes benedryl seems to help. Maxalt no longer helps me. Good Luck! > > Does anyone else get a fever when they have a Chiari headache? > > I do, just low, 99.2F today. But it's unnerving because I'm not otherwise ill, just the headache today is 8/10. And so far the Maxalt and ice didn't help. Standing outside at -9F did for a while as we went to watch the Olympic torch go through town, but now the pain is back again. > > My feet, hands and right arm are also really numb/tingly today. My skin on my right arm feels like I sunburned it. It is sensitive to have anything touch it, even my flannel pjs I'm wearing. Don't know if it is ACM or just weird. I'm calling for a dr. appt. tomorrow with my GP for a crook in my neck that has driven me crazy the whole holiday season... I'll ask him, but won't get much help likely. > > Just curious... > > Thanks!! > > Cassandra > Ontario Canada >
