My mother developed the lean in the hospital this time. It came from

drugs, ECT or both, as it was all of a sudden. It seems like every

time I read this listserv I find another thing explained for us.

Because she was so horribly psychotic we were willing to accept side

effects from the drugs . She has not been psychotic since discharge,

though has had some vivid dreams...not all bad ones. She is really

herself in many ways now, and doesn't complain about the side

effects. Actually the lean has improved, and mainly she has thick

monotone speech and drooling. I suspect the drooling is from the

Aricept, but hope it is from the Zyprexa and will improve with a

decrease in her dose.

Her Zyprexa is down to 5 mg from 10 as of today. Next week we see Dr.

Boeve for a consult. I hope to have a better " game plan " after that.

Jim never had the Lewy Lean until they put him in a wheelchair at the nh with

very short armrests to rest his arms on and he leaned to the right, this went on

for about 4 months and he could hardly eat, because he was leaning to the right

and bent over. I requested a wheelchair with longer armrests and when his arms

were on the armrests it pushed his body toward the center of the chair and he

didn't lean anymore, he sat upright. He doesn't lean when I pull him up to

stand either.

it wasnt due to any medications, for him it was just one of the many symptoms of

lbd, daddy leaned to the right, and 99% of the time fell towards the right, good

luck and hugs, sharon

My mom had the Lewy Lean from Risperidone -- or Risperidone on top of a

# of other meds. My mom was super sensitive to meds and especially

Risperidone -- and even the small dose of Seroquel wasn't good for her.

The exaggerated Lewy Lean ended after Risperidone - she finally sat up

straight after the removal of the small amount of Seroquel. Mom just

couldn't handle ANY anti-psychotics...
