Guest guest
Ugh! My upper respiratory infection is BACK. I've been on antibiotics (see below) almost non-stop for the last four months. Every time I finish a round of antibiotics, I'm fine for a week, and then it's back. B-A-C-K, back. Ugh.  Has anyone else dealt with something like this? I just had two CAT scans done and an echo of my heart, but I don't have the results yet. But this constant being sick thing is really pissing me off.  Soph  Re: Re: New to group.. very long! Sorry!  There's nothing like getting felled by lung-related problems to make you hyper-aware of your mortality.    I've been struggling with it for the last year (although, looking back, the signs of a progressively worsening problem were there, but I just didn't realize it -- until the H1N1 vaccine tried to shut my lungs down the rest of the way and I couldn't avoid dealing with it anymore).    And the latest illnesses seem to really hit your lungs hard. I caught one right before Christmas, and I've had 5 rounds of Antibiotics and 1 round of steroids, trying to get rid of it. (Z-Pack, Cipro, Prednisone, Bioxin, Cipro, Levaquin). My pulmonologist put me on Levaquin, because it's the only antibiotic that can really penetrate lung tissue as deeply as it does. Unfortunately, it can also cause tendonitis, and with the tendon and cardiac problems I experienced while I was on it, I can't use it anymore.    I'm supposed to get an EKG and a CAT of my sinuses and my lungs next week, since sometimes, heart problems present as lung problems. Although, right now, is probably the best I've felt in the last year and a half. But I figure I should get it done anyway.    I really need to get a colonoscopy and an endoscopy done, but I've been putting them off until my lungs are back on track. I'm really leery of suddenly not being able to breath in the middle of the procedure.
Guest guest
Hi Soph, I understand how frustrated you are. I don't know that this is the same thing, but I was diagnosed with pneumonia on a cellular level. Had to have a bronchoscope and they found it in the biopsies. I was on a six month dcourse of antibiotics. Now, they tell me that they don't think it is gone. I may have to have another bronchoscope and go through more antibiotics. Uggh. Just a thought, are you using a sinus rinse of any kind? It may help. Madeline To: asthma Sent: Fri, April 15, 2011 11:31:19 PMSubject: Chronic Upper Respiratory Infection Ugh! Guest guest
Hi, willothewispl here, yes, I get all kinds of chest colds, bronchitis, so far I have been able to ward off pneumonia, temporarily anyway. It is miserable, it seems to be getting harder to keep healthy, as far as my lungs are concerned. This rainy spring weather, and windy, it just throws my chest, and sinus's in a tailspin if I go out in them. A real pain in the patooty. To: asthma Sent: Mon, April 18, 2011 12:07:08 PMSubject: Re: Chronic Upper Respiratory Infection Hi Soph, I understand how frustrated you are.
