Hi Char.

I am Diabetic, too, with Asthma, Obstructive & Restrictive Lung Disease as well.

I take symbiacort and proventil inhalers. I am also on oxygen, 2.5 right now for

the setting, and I am also hooked up to a CPAP machine at night.

Stress raises blood sugars. Stress raises cortisol which is a stress hormone and

can cause a person to gain weight as well.

Are you under alot of stress? As a Diabetic, I am on Metformin, Glimperide, and

one shot of insulin a night, 74 units.

What Diabetes medications are you on?

Also, check your carbs. High carbs raise blood sugars. Make sure to keep a food

journal, how much you eat, what you eat, and when you ate it (Breakfast, Lunch,

Dinner). Test your blood sugars right before you eat, and then 2 hours after you

eat. If it is too high, see if it wasn't a high carb food like potatoes, grains,

starches that raised your blood sugars. Sometimes these foods and how a diabetic

processes these foods are different then non diabetics.

Hope this is helpful.

about 4 of 5 years ago and got up to almost 180 lbs. I got off Asthmanex because

it didn't seem to help my asthma at all. I'm gaining too. I don't know if the

Aerobid was part of it or if the Asthmanex is all to blame. I can hardly wait

till spring gets here. The main time I take steroids is in the winter. I refuse

to take them all year long. It's the weather near freezing and the night air

that gets to me. I just have to keep the windows closed at night and carry my

emer inhaler in the summer and take my foradil daily and I'm fine. I'm 51 and

about 163 now I think. I'm 5' 5''. I think I'm getting a cold. My last cold took

me a month to get under control with the flu, cold, asthma, and winter. Everyone

around me is ill, so...
