Guest guest
, that five year limit is based on studies using synthetic hormones, not bio-identicals. Tell your doctor that he can't use some umbrella "logic" to include BHRT into that five-year limit. I've been on them now for six years, and you'd have to kill me to stop me from using them. Why should I stop using hormones that are the same as the ones my body's been familiar with all my life? I know of others who've gone off BHRT, and for most of them all the symptoms of menopause come back in force. It's like going through menopause all over again. Virginia >>He says that we should only be on hormones, bioidentical or otherwise, for a total of 5 years and I'm on them for 3 years already. So what to do , what to do? >>
Guest guest
Hear, hear!! Gael I really don't care what they say about five years max on hormones. Of course, to cover their behinds, they will say that. I am healthier on estradiol than off it. There are certainly considerations beyond "hot flashes." Start with bone density as a prime consideration. Val Check out AOL Money Finance's list of the hottest products and top money wasters of 2007. Guest guest
Should I have asked him to test my iodine levels? My Vit D level was seriously deficient. > > A lot of these " cancers " are due to so many people being " iodine > deficient " . Guest guest
Val - I haven't taken ANY P!!!! How could I be overdosed on it? At most, I take 1.25 mg of sublingual P every 10 days but that is it. And the P in my blood test showed up as very low. My estradiol is 34. Big whoop. And that was while on Biest. All these doctors want to give us estriol but do THEY consider how it metabolizes? THey don't want to hear it from a lay person! Why do they think all women need all of this progesterone ? We are all different levels. > > > > What is your experience with vaginal P? >
Guest guest
As I recall, you have bleeding issues? With an estradiol of 34, it is no wonder P makes you crazy. No telling what the biest does to you, either. I know, for me, it gave me no estradiol and I bled the whole five months. You are going to have to find what works for you instead of depending on doctors. I use my doc for ultrasounds and Pap smears. As you know from the literature, there is no firm agreement about hormone use. Val From: rhythmicliving [mailto:rhythmicliving ] On Behalf Of Val - I haven't taken ANY P!!!! Guest guest
You can do an iodine loading test yourself: http://www.breastcancerchoices.org/iodineindex.html http://www.breastcancerchoices.org/loading.html Sam ===== > Should I have asked him to test my iodine levels? Guest guest
Yes I know there is no firm agreement on this issue which is why I can't get a damned doctor to prescribe the RIGHT thing!! I wonder if there are any New Yorkers on this list who could give me a willing doctor. What kills me is that this guy doesn't think estradiol of 34 is so bad for someone MY age. Isn't that nice of him? > > As I recall, you have bleeding issues? > > With an estradiol of 34, it is no wonder P makes you crazy. > > No telling what the biest does to you, either.
