Guest guest
I am glad you got things moving!!! I was d deffiencient myself and it definately makes you very sick. I hope you start feeling better when your d goes up. I am not familiar with your choline supplement. My kids take choline in the flintstones vitaimins. It used to be in another vitamin they took as well and I feel that they are definately neurologically better with it. I can tell when they dont get it. Guest guest
Don't forget that the usually vaccinate them at birth...............they like to smoke screen ailments when they happen from birth as though they are of course, your fault. Did the seizures start before or after the miralax................ Subject: Re: Need help - Senna not working, symptoms worseningTo: miralax Date: Wednesday, June 10, 2009, 10:23 AM Wow, Jennie, Thanks. And I'm so glad to hear about your son's recovery! Elsa was diagnosed with absence seizures last year. Before that she had one episode of myoclonus when she was 28 mos. I absolutely agree with you that if we work on treating/healing the gut we'll see improvements in the seizures. I've been trying to tell her doctors since her e diagnosis that she's always had the GI stuff and that the seizures seem to be a progression of related symptoms since her birth; reflux, constipation, bloating, night sweats, sensory stuff, etc. I've wondered about yeast or parasites. I hadn't considered virus or fungus. And yes, we see the gas connection too. We initially tried the mod keto diet alone with good results, though it didn't fully control the seizures. I'm guessing the big gain was simply removing the processed sugars/foods. I've also thought that the mk diet was similar to fungal diets. I see many similarities with the SCD/GAPS Diet too. Or at least, we're trying to implement it this way now.We started to supplement with magnesium and a multi. We give Elsa WholeLife Liquid Cal Mag Zinc as I'd always been told to balance the cal/mag as 2:1 ratio? I do suspect she gets sufficient calcium through her diet alone. Would something like Natural Calm be better? Re the constipation, we're using NOW FOODS C-Complex powder (1/8 teaspoon 2x day, or 500mg). I imagine we can go higher, but Elsa's such a sensitive kid that I always start out very slowly. What is the whole form Aloe Vera that you're using? And how much do you give your son?We do use spring water and avoid all processed sugars. At this point we're using small amts of stevia only. She gets her carbs in the form of low glycemic veggies mostly. We do give her berries or grapefruit slices occasionally. She drinks lemon/lime juice every day and we try to keep her diet more alkaline. How are you using the OLE and garlic? Do you recommend any testing for fungal/yeast issues? We don't suspect an obstruction issue, but she's only had the one x-ray for impaction so far. I definitely suspect a motility issue. We're seeing a GI in a few weeks who specializes in neuro-gut conditions and hopefully will explore this further. Neurologically, her MRI was normal.Delaine> >> > Hello-> > > > A recent x-ray shows that my daughter is still significantly impacted despite huge gains recently with pottying and encopresis. Guest guest
Jeanie, the seizures started before the miralax. Most likely they started when she was 9 mos old when we went through a suspicious phase of fevers with unknown origin. Blood results were normal, except for low C02 levels. I now know that this can be an indicator of seizure activity. The fevers were followed by an isolated episode of myclonic seizures at 28 mos then the absences at 3 yrs. The gut/sensory stuff's been there since birth. She slept on her stomach/on me for the first 4mos. She couldn't tolerate swings, strollers, etc. Later it was sounds, etc. We saw huge cognitive improvements when we started the modified keto diet. And yes, she's been fully vaccinated from birth. Arrgh, if I could turn back time... I did get wise after the first year and delayed/avoided some of the more intense vaccines. I now have a new pedi too who won't do anything w/out testing for titers first. (I haven't decided yet how to proceed from this point.) I also had a rhogam shot but otherwise avoided all medications and had an entirely natural pregnancy/birth. We've been successful in avoiding antibiotics for the most part too. Guest guest
I stopped trying to cut his hair for almost a year because I could see how terrible it was for him, I know your children weren't on Miralax, but this is one side affect from Miralax that clearly shows that it affects the brain. I had senory issues with washing my child's hair, ONLY after she was given this medication and it's never went away in almost a decade. I'm trying to figure out what it does to the brain and which part of the brain is responsible for this. Do you know? Subject: Re: Need help - Senna not working, symptoms worseningTo: miralax Date: Wednesday, June 10, 2009, 10:51 PM Hi -very glad your daughter finally started passing some stool!!Was wondering if you've tried checking for IgG (not IgA or IgE) food allergies/intoleran ces and/or if you've tried eliminating some of the commonly problematic foods from her diet? (e.g., gluten (wheat, rye, barley, & sometimes oats), milk/casein, soy, egg, etc.) I ask because nutrient/vitamin deficiencies frequently result from malabsorption in the GI tract which is often related to food intolerances, mercury toxicity, candida/yeast overgrowth, general dysbiosis, etc., and/or a combination of these factors.Seeing that her gut issues have been there since birth & the seizures started at 9 months (were you introducing solids and/or transitioning to cow's milk then? - adding new foods to her diet..?) just further adds to my suspicion of food intolerances/ allergies.has she ever been tested (e.g., hair test or urinary porphyrins) for mercury and other metals levels? Aside from mercury possibly being in vaccines she may have received, if mom has amalgam (silver) fillings, baby will have mercury (in fact, my holistic dentist just told me the other day that first baby gets like half of mom's toxin load, and subsequent babies get lighter loads). There are other environmental exposure risks for mercury (and skads of other toxins), too. Some people are good at clearing mercury & other toxins naturally, and others retain and/or cannot clear it well for whatever reason.I have read at various message boards several parents' experiences that food intolerances ("delayed" allergies) were related to their child's seizures. And I can attest first hand to constipation being directly related to food intolerances (both for myself and my children). My older son suffered from chronic, severe, and painful constipation for over 2 years before I finally got some helpful testing done that revealed gluten was causing him problems. (We had already known that casein/milk, soy, egg, and corn were problems for him). He also had what I now realize would have been diagnosed as some sensory issues (e.g., could NOT stand to be in a public bathroom for fear of the loud flush of the toilets or the air dryer; wouldn't swing (as an infant in infant swing/rocker or as toddler in playground swings; I stopped trying to cut his hair for almost a year because I could see how terrible it was for him; etc.)Anyway, he used to need at least 500 mg, and as much as 700mg elemental magnesium daily to *hopefully* poop every few days. Now, unless we have a dietary infraction, I give him about 500 mg magnesium once or twice a week, but he poops every single day. (again, unless any of his troublesome foods got into him)I feel confident we've had some GI healing and are seeing better absorption of nutrients for him (and myself & DS#2). He also has no trouble with hair cuts and doesn't mind certain noises nearly as much as he used to, he's much less irritable/sensitive , fewer (dramatically fewer) 'meltdowns,' etc.I also know he & I are mercury toxic (and suspect DS#2 is also) - and am preparing to start chelating all of us - which I hope will help reduce our need for supplemental vitamins/minerals and bring about more improvements (though I must say we've already seen great improvements with diet alone - and not just in the sense of eliminating foods we're intolerant of, but also by following more 'native nutrition' concepts and including more raw, whole foods, getting no spray/organic as much as feasible; reducing sugar, essentially eliminating high fructose corn syrup, etc etc...basically if great-grandma would not have known it to be food, we stop and question it - and usually avoid it - though we aren't perfect about it!)Sorry so long... I just wanted to toss my thoughts out there because I truly believe food intolerances ("Delayed food allergies") and mercury toxicity are major underlying factors that contribute to many health problems - including predisposing to gut flora dysbiosis, candida, "leaky gut," constipation, etc. I think the GI tract health is critical to overall body health.best,> >> >> >> > Hello-> >> > > >> > A recent x-ray shows that my daughter is still significantly impacted despite huge gains recently with pottying and encopresis. Guest guest
They give this to mom's that are RH-, when the baby is +. http://www.rhogam.com/Patient/WhatRhNegativeMeans/Pages/default.aspx http://www.vaccinetruth.org/rhogam.htm--- Subject: Re: Re: Need help - Senna not working, symptoms worseningTo: miralax Date: Thursday, June 11, 2009, 3:46 AM rhogram. what does this do?? i had this when preggo and also when bfeeding.it made me tired and sick i think but i do not know how it affects babies but i am sure it does. i am B- and my girl is B+ so that is why they gave it to me/us.angiDelaine Hudson wrote: Jeanie, the seizures started before the miralax. Because of our bad experience with Miralax (flareup of seizures, deteriorating behavior, regression), we opted to try Senna leaves to clean her out.
