Guest guest
You could call back your gyn or GP and leave a message as they suggested. Usually they have a backup doctor on call. Guest guest
If you call 911 they will send an ambulance and the ambulance people will no doubt make some kind of decision as to whether it is advisable to transport you to a hospital or not. At least you will get some kind of advice. Ora >You could call back your gyn or GP and leave a message as they >suggested. Guest guest
Well at least you have someone that will check on you, that is some help, and I am so sorry that you are alone there and going through this. I wish I could help you more. I know usually I call my Dr. and he will always tell me to just go to the ER, now. But, even if I cannot get hold of him I go, and then call him from there, or have them keep trying to get him. But, then again that is over here. I hope you are getting some pain relief from the things they told you to do.To: Asthma Group <asthma >Sent: Mon, May 30, 2011 7:42:10 PMSubject: RE: Not sure what to do?? yep I am older enough I have a child so I know warning signs for A & E visit or not i spoke to neighbour who has taken a spare key so she can check on me over night she said I do look pale so she said please ring if I feel worst and she phoned 999 and was told same thing, also A & E told her same thing Regards, Ms Donna~Marie Hurst United Kingdom South WalesTo: asthma From: willothewispl@...Date: Mon, 30 May 2011 16:37:33 -0700Subject: Re: Not sure what to do?? Guest guest
Same here. In fact when my doctors' offices are closed, such as even just for lunch let alone after hours, the recorded message starts right out saying " If this is a medical emergency, hang up and dial 911 " (that's the US number for fire, police, ambulance). I'd sure consider doing exactly that before I got too sick to make the call. Guest guest
Do you have your appendix? If an appendix is acting up, the last thing you want to do is apply heat to the area. Been there, done that. My doctor at the time was so dumb he didn't figure out my appendix had ruptured until 10 days later, despite several exams in his office meanwhile because I kept feeling sick and had a spiking fever. Just kept telling me to go back to work whenever I felt well enough. Doctors are NOT gods, and no kind of medical personnel can diagnose a person over the phone. Slats > > > yep I am older enough I have a child so I know warning signs for A & E visit or not i spoke to neighbour who has taken a spare key so she can check on me over night she said I do look pale so she said please ring if I feel worst and she phoned 999 and was told same thing, also A & E told her same thing > > Regards, Ms Donna~Marie Hurst United Kingdom South Wales > > > > To: asthma > From: willothewispl@... > Date: Mon, 30 May 2011 16:37:33 -0700 > Subject: Re: Not sure what to do?? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Oh for heaven sakes, I think you are old enough to make a decision whether you need to go to the er or not? I wonder what those people were thinking? Maybe it is different over there, though. I cannot believe no one is answering their phones? But, it happens. Guest guest
When my daughter hurt like that I took her to the ER and it turned out being appendicitis. You are showing some symptoms of that. Go to the ER no matter what they say and be checked out. Appendicitis can kill. To: Asthma Group <asthma >Sent: Mon, May 30, 2011 7:27:05 PMSubject: RE: Not sure what to do?? thank you, I phoned 999 and they said i'm not urgent due to age they said use a hot water bottle on my stomach take painkillers and go to bed, I phoned the gp and no drs are working until tomorrow morning at 9am I am on the NHS system so only drs working are in the hospitals , 999 person said as for my chest pain take my ventolin and keep my phone by my bed, other then that they said nothing they can do, they said if my condition worstens to the point i am in so much pain I cant bare it anymroe then phone a memeber of my family and it would be there choice of what to do!!! now I am angry on top of everythingRegards, Ms Donna~Marie Hurst United Kingdom South WalesTo: asthma From: willothewispl@...Date: Mon, 30 May 2011 15:47:12 -0700Subject: Re: Not sure what to do?? Guest guest
Donna, as this not an asthma question, I hesitate to jump in here. That being said, any time you have debilitating pain of unknown origin you should be checked out as soon as possible. The pain and the fact that you are worried tells me that you should go to your nearest emergency center. MadelineSent via DROID on Verizon Wireless Not sure what to do?? Guest guest
Have you phoned NHS Direct? I know it's too late now as it's now morning and the doctors will be open, but out of hours, phone the doctors anyway. Each area has a different system, but here the phone will automatically redirect to North Staffs Urgent Care, where they have doctors on duty until late at night, and at weekends. Some areas will just redirect you to NHS Direct, and some to an on duty doctor, as each area should have an 'on call' doctor out of hours.JennTha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Don't brand me, don't classify me, don't tell me what to wear. I'll be who I want to be, and I'm proud to be me.
