I, so, enjoy reading the posts, good information and links to learn

as much as I can about DLB.

Mom has changed so much just since I have been home (since

Christmas). She has been checked for a UTI and has had a thyroid

screening.

She has been on Exelon (4.6 mg) patch for almost a month. She is

demonstrating hallucinations, fixations, apathy, and cannot remember

from five minutes ago. Talked to neuro- appt. March 27th. Wondering

if she should go to 9.2 mg? Would a higher dose be more beneficial

than 'not enough?' She has definately more confused since she has

been on the patch.

Not sure if it is the medicine, DLB or the fear she is experiencing

due to her moving into LPCF. Proably alittle of all. She cannot

understand the move, even tho, I have explained it to her many times.

She is embarrassed b/c she cannot remember words. I pray that this

move is the right decision and it does not make her crumble.

I beleive that my Mom is in the post-moderate phase. As of now, she

is not in the 'neighborhood' but within a few months, I am almost

sure she will be moved.

This is my first experience living with someone who has dementia. I

had never heard of DLB. It is SO! sad to see my Mom like this. I have

to pray for patience continually throughout the day.

So thankful I found this group who understands what I am going

through. Most people have NO clue.

Sincerely,

Rob

Dear Rob,

It's good you've set an appointment for your mom. Many of us have been with

our loved ones where you are now? Have you been reading posts about how certain

dementia meds don't work for everyone. I wrote about my own mom, who could not

take Exelon, but is successful on Razadyne. Also asked you several questions

about the circumstances of your mom's increased hallucinations, confusion, etc.

You don't have to answer here, of course, but they might be helpful to consider

as you plan the doctor's appointment.

Our MD told us something that seems useful to share: Many of the symptoms of

LBD can be addressed for most people. Your mom doesn't need to suffer all this.

Finding the proper medication is vital, and the meds need to be frequently

evaluated and adjusted as necessary.

Please stay in touch and let us know how both of you are doing.
