Guest guest
I was diagnosed with Chiari approximately two years ago after I suffered from a fall and had an MRI done. Prior to that I have had four other whiplash type accidents so I believe the Chiari was already there and possibly brought on by them. I have had several symptoms for a long time and it has been suggested that they possibly are from the degenerative arthritis I have in my cervical spine and not from the Chiari Malformation. Lately I seem to be getting worse and I think it's time that I do something more about it other than taking pain meds that don't seem to be working very well anymore. I also do stretching and apply heat packs as well as take muscle relaxant's, but nothing helps. So I need a good doctor to determine exactly what it is that I need to do. Decompression or surgery on my cervical spine, or both. I have an appointment this morning (4/22/09) with Dr. Estrada Bernard who is a neurosurgeon at Anchorage Neurological Associates. I wish I could afford to go to one of the doctors that are specialists but I'm limited due to my insurance coverage and lack of funds. Has anyone heard anything about the doctor I'm going to see or anything about his group? Do you have any input about any other doctors in Alaska that may be helpful to me? The information may be helpful to others that are here in the middle of nowhere in the " Last Frontier " . I would greatly appreciate your input. Have a great day!
