Guest guest
Yes my son is milk free right now. He was never a big milk drinker but he was a huge cheese lover. Why do you say I should hold off on calcium supplements. They are free of dairy or casein and all that I've heard if they are off milk they should take calcium supplements. Thanks for helping me out. Bear in mind that he is 16 years old, 6'4" tall and about 250 lbs. Here is what he prescribed for now. 1) Opti-Zinc 30 - 2 capsules at night 2) Calcium with vitamin D - 2 capsules once per day 3) Omega Pure 600 - 2 capsules twice per day 4) P-5-P - 1 capsule twice per day 5) DMG with folinic acid and B12 - 1 capsule twice per day 6) Probiotic complete - 25 billion cfus Also we started him on the Methyl B12 shots, once we have reached full strength he will be on 3500 mcg ( i think that's correct) every 3rd day. Thank you all on any thoughts you may have regarding the above. Guest guest
Many of our kids are calcium toxic. They are usually high in iron and copper too. Our kids have problems with calcium absorbtion. Calcium supplements can trigger behaviours too. Hold off and then have calcium levels tested. My kids have only gotten calcium from their meat veggies and fruit (no milk subs either) and their calcium levels are still normal high after 18 months. We even do reverse osmosis water to keep from being overminalized. On a side note, I saw a bottle of CLR yesterday and it made me think of how we require such a toxic cleaner to get rid of the build of minerals in our sink from our water! Bacteria in the gut will also use calcium to survive. The calcium hype is just that. Elsie Salem wrote: Yes my son is milk free right now. Guest guest
I agree the whole dairy/calcium thing is over hyped. But calcium is still extremely important in the body. And if the body is low in calcium, then it will try and use other elements to fill the gap, which means, for example, you get a much greater uptake of lead in your bones. I'll take calcium over lead any day. cnickerson wrote: Many of our kids are calcium toxic. They are usually high in iron and copper too. Our kids have problems with calcium absorbtion. Guest guest
Calcium is extrememly important in the body. Which is why she should have her child's levels tested prior to pumping him full of calcium supplements that may make other underlying problems a whole lot worse. Many of our kids are hypercalcemic and the calcium they are getting, either by food or supplements, is not being used correctly. The choice is not " lead or calcium. Guest guest
I agree that some magnesium should be in there as well. I give my son cal/mag 1 cap three times a day. It is better to give the dose throughout the day as it only stays in the body for a short time and calcium I believe needs mag to be absorbed properly From: Christel King <christel76@together .net>Subject: Re: Outcome of 1st DAN VisitTo: mb12 valtrex@ yahoogroups. comDate: Saturday, October 4, 2008, 11:30 PM I think I would throw some mag in there as well with the p5p, and with the cal and vitD Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace. com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock. com/MyPage/ recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook .com/profi le. php?id=677063169 Outcome of 1st DAN Visit Hi everyone: Just wanted to see if anyone had any opinions regarding what my DAN is prescribing for my son right now. Guest guest
Sorry, I thought saying " I'll take calcium over lead anyday " when we were discussing getting tested prior to adding calcium supplements is misleading, unintentionally. In fact someone emailed me privately and asked about that statement. So everyone calm down already. This group list is insane sometimes.
