Guest guest
Hey guys: Well it seemed like it nearly took an act of congress but I finally got the NH and the doctors to agree to start taking Mom off Adivan. Now instead of .5 twice a day she'll get .5 once a day starting today. And work down to none if she does all right. Starting last week she begin having terrible nightmares. She's had hallucinations before but not nightmares. Apparently they are very gruesome with people getting eaten mostly her family members (siblings all of which have passed on) and little children. I assume this is a normal (? strange word to use) symptom? The NH staff says she wakes up screaming, but once they are over and she realizes they aren't real she settles down. The really strange thing is ever since these have started she has started to adjust to the NH. She has made a couple of new freinds and they play cards and dominoes every day. She has a friend who she also works puzzles with. In fact my cousin came to visit today and she was too busy to even visit with her. her days are great it's only after sundown that the demons come out. She did say tonight that she would like one of the nicer rooms ( private ones) and I told her she was already on the waiting list for one. Then she said she thought that you could not get one of those unless you were going to stay there and she's only temporary. This is one strange strange disease Becky --------------------------------- Boardwalk for $500? In 2007? Ha! Play Monopoly Here and Now (it's updated for today's economy) at Yahoo! Games. Guest guest
Dear Becky, Congratulations and " great job! " I'm one of those who truly believe your mom will do much better without the Ativan. My mom has the nightmares, too. She doesn't always remember from one to the next that's what they are. Seroquel has helped - she is on a low dose but it cuts way back on the scary parts of the night. You're so right - it's a strange disease and we get to see more of it around here every day. Pin a medal on YOURSELF for a great success. You and your mom are in my prayers.
