I know.. I just try to be as careful as I can.... the greeting card ones are the worst....

I just scan daily to minimize the damage.

I'm beginning to think that EVERYWHERE we go, there's spyware. I clean mine out regularly, but there's always something there, every single time. I made 100 also!

The cleaner that I use is called AdAware, it's shareware, which means that you can use a lesser featured version for free, or upgrade to one that runs automatically instead of manually for a fee.

Most spyware is innocent, it simply does a count on you so that the webmaster can keep track of visitors, they do no harm at all. Others can be pretty nasty, they can keep track of everything that you type into your computer, they can keep track of all the websites you go to, how often and how long you stay there. I prefer all that info to remain private.

Another 100!!! Cool.. We do have a pretty smart bunch here don't we?

And each day each and everyone of us learns more... We should become doctors specializing in thyroid!!!!!

hehhheehhe me too! I have several machines here... and I can't think of anything 'juicy' on any of them.... the one that has all the info for my dad's inventions is not internet capable and is kept off the network so no one can get into that one..... hehehehehehe

A hacker used to be a "good" person who could do all this tech stuff. Now it's considered to be a bad word. However, there are the "white hats" and the "black hats". (Good and bad). Of course, it was the evil doers, who intend to destroy your computer, who gave the name "hacker" a bad rep. Some of these people want to hack just to see what they can destroy. Mental illness, political reasons (deeper meaning), general weirdness. They may not care that you're not working for the CIA or are 007, they just do it for the heck of it. They may not even be formally "techy" educated people, maybe self-educated, but sometimes it doesn't take much to create a cute little program to put inside your computer, and there goes all your info, etc... right down the drain. Why? Cause they're nuts and they ont to!
