I am getting ready to see Dr. Jobe at Bayfront Hospital in St. Pete on Feb

15th. I'll let you know how that goes. I saw a doctor at Tampa General that

has ties to USF and HATED her! She thought that my neck pain was some how

connected to hand numbness that I had during one of her exams. The second

appointment she wanted to wait 6 months and do another MRI to make sure it

wasn't tether cord. I am 26 and my last MRI was when I was 21. The

herniation has not changed since then, so I can even tell her it isn't a tether

cord. The reason behind waiting was because I have rods in my back and the only

way to see a tether cord on me she claimed was to wait and look 6 months

from then to check the herniation of the chiari to see if it got worse. She

also wanted to do an EMG because of the hand numbness I had during that

exam. She then claimed that nothing was wrong with my neck on the MRI, but

when I went to get my reports and actual films I had 3 clear bulging discs and

degenerative disc disease. I did have 2 bulging discs prior to that MRI

which she had old films and could compare. However, the 3rd and the

degenerative disc disease was new. I also had a 9-10 mm herniation that she

claimed

was minor and my peds doctor said was fairly large when he stopped being

able to see me. Needless, to say I saw her twice. Dr. Van Lovern has been in

the local tampa and st pete papers regarding surgeries he has done with

chiari. However, from what I have heard it is very hard to get into see him.

That was who I was hoping to see when I went to see the doc at Tampa General.

But was never

able to.
