Guest guest
millie was diagnosed on jan 6 2007 and passed march 6 2008. She had symptoms for 4 years, but things became critical the fall of 2006. I am sure progression depends on circuits broken. we live next door so we were dispensing her meds and the like months before her diagnosis. we hadn't even heard of LBD until January 2007. Once i found this group, i knew i had a new family and lifeline. I could not get enough information about LBD. Now i realize, the information was not out there. We are weaving the fabric as we travel. Every thread is valuable to the next person. Once this is an old disease, our experiences won't be as crucial, b ut while we know more than many health care providers, we have to keep weaving. Guest guest
Well said Carol. I didn't see one of my Don's problems on the List is making, and that is Don doesn't know left and right, up and down, nor in and out. short instructions can't be followed when he can't figure out those things. He is beginning to be almost helpless. He doesn't help around the house, as he doesn't know what to do even when he is asked. He went out in the back yard today, looking for the injured cat he was seeing in a hallucination. He walked the whole yard and why he got up behind the house I don't know, but he stepped on a loose brick and fell. He is scraped up a lot. Head, arm, hand and leg. I guess I'll have to go out with him if he has to check something out in the future. Guest guest
If an LBD finds my cat " DENA " in an hallucination, send her home! Millie always asked what she could do to help, but couldn't follow directions. I had to do things when she wasn't around. She was usually very polite at hospice, even when she was fading fast. if she had been abusive to the people there I would have cried, I am sure. Guest guest
My mom woke my dad up about 2:00 a.m. this morning, and told him that he needed to go out to the shed and stop her brother (deceased for more than 20 years) and his first wife (dead for almost 65 years) from tearing down the storage shed/garage. She was so adamant that it was happening, and she could see Wes and Tommie out there tearing it apart that he had to get up, and go turn on the floodlight in the back yard and go back to the bedroom and show her that there was no one at the shed. We were at the First Baptist Church of Lewyville again tonight, only I didn't have to sing. We just had to bless every single thing in the house, including the commode, the frame to the commode, the seat she sits on, the pee that she pees...*sigh* When she makes up her mind about something, there's no changing it. She started asking for a " pullsy pill " . We finally figured out that she's decided she has pleurisy. Of course, we have no " pullsy pills " in the house, but I searched the cabinets for something that would suffice. We'd already used the red M & M's for " heart problems " , so they were out of the question, but I did find a bottle of " Beano " and gave her one of them. You know...I feel a bit guilty when I do things like that, but it satisfies her, gives her comfort, and she relaxes then. And I'm sure she won't have gas tonight. Guest guest
Hi, Jannis - Give yourself a pat on the back, not a case of the guilts. You're using your wits to meet your mom's needs - and that's wisdom and love in action. I'm grateful she doesn't have pleurisy -and also impressed you keep the pills for it on hand. A clever, loving daughter, indeed. Now that the church service has ended, I hope you will have a peaceful night. No doubt that many of those " blessings " are really intended for you. Guest guest
Jannis, I sure had a good laugh over that one. " She won't have gas tonight! " Love it. That is the fiblet you don't need to feel bad about. Thanks goodness for the multiple color M & Ms. Hugs, Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. She was almost 89 when she died in '02.
