Guest guest
Hi Pam Wow, thank you for talking about sparkles! I think I know what you mean, I tried to explain this to my doctor once, I said it's like odd pixels, of what I'm looking at, flash a different colour and he looked at me as if I was barmy! Is this what you mean by sparkles? I see floaters too, is this what you mean by black squiggles ? or are they something more definate and not translucent ? if so, your descriptions worry me slightly, as they sound a little like what my aunt described happened when she started with Macular Degeneration. I would definately get to see a Neuro Opthalmologist - not that mine helped me (see below) but they can't all be useless - can they?!! I've had loads of problems with eyes or more precisely eye/brain but never any explanation, Initially I used to get an intense prick in my eye I couldn't watch anything scrolling upwards, felt uneasy If I followed a continuous line it looked dotted! I had double vision (even in just one eye at times) I had fluctuating blurry vision, worse after sweet things Things could look bright in one eye yet duller in the other Eventually my eyes were often very dry, The pupils were often unequal on a morning My eyes hurt more in a morning, or if I rubbed them (like a pressure from behind) It hurts when I roll my eyes up, or sometimes down (or to the sides and can make me feel 'uneasy') Sometimes the shape of my pupils morph (weird!) Sometimes they are like tiny pinheads Sometimes they are oval, like cats! Sometimes they're not even in the middle of my iris! I see 'sparkles' from time to time Sometimes see a pattern that pulses as my heart beats I find it difficult following words on a line and often see a totally differerent word than what's written. Each time I had my eyes tested they had deteriorated. The diagnosis I was fobbed off with was 'dry eye', oh and mild infection - er, when it was the darned consultant that gave me the infection!! :-[ Barbara (UK)
