I LOVE that commercial ! I thought it was sooo funny and really showed a

great humor for the Deaf community. It helped others know that just because

people are Deaf doesn't mean they don't have a great sense of humor!

Kristy

Oh I cant wait to read all of the post on this one. Hailey has gotten

out of the house on me twice. Scared me half to death. Luckly she

just made it to the end of the driveway. I have locks and child proof

door knob covers on all the doors. But she figured out how to pull

them off. So moms beware those can give you a false since of security.

I was in the back of the house and I forgot to lock the door at the

top because I thought I had it cover with the door knob covers. But

my little Houdini pulled it off and she was on her little adventure.

I am so glad I caught her both times. I now have a really nice lock

on the front door and Im always on top of her because I know just how

quick and smart she can be when she wants out. Thank goodness we live

in the back of the neighborhood and there is no traffic back here.

The good lord was with us. In a article I read one time it said it

was a good idea when going on vacation to alert the front desk that

you have a little houdini and were she belongs just incase. Im going

on vacation next week and I will forsure take that advice. lol I cant

wait to hear the other stories.

Yeah, I loved it, too -- for more than one reason. It's actually based on one

of the most popular jokes within the Deaf communityl If you're around a Deaf

person long enough, you'll hear (or, SEE, as the case may be!) that joke! I.

King Jordan, the first Deaf President of Gallaudet University (the country's

only Deaf university), is quoted as saying, " Deaf people can do anything but

hear. " That commercial really is a testament to that, because it was written by

Deaf people and the actors in it are Deaf.

Of course, I also had to slip that in in light of our football conversation

today! :-)

Speaking of Commercials...has anyone seen the RESPECT one where the DS Girl

(adequately named Becky) is crowned the Homecoming Queen? Makes me cry every

time!

I think I have seen that one. My first year teaching special ed, one of my boys

with DS was crowned Prom Prince. The next year he was also part of the prom

court, but I can't remember which " position. " Here's the ironic thing. This is

voted on by the class, so no teacher is involved in it at all. Obviously, this

kid was popular enough to get the votes of his peers, but guess who was " upset "

that he won. THE OTHER KIDS WITH IEP'S WERE UPSET because they said the rest of

the kids just voted for him because they felt sorry for him! I've gotta tell

ya, there might have been a FEW students who voted for him for that reason, but

there's NO WAY 300 of them did! I just found it ironic -- and terribly sad --

that his " closest peers " would be jealous and upset and the rest of the student

body was fine with it!

It's a commercial promoting RESPECT to others.....it is sooo awesome! If Dad

would ever let you use the Remote to watch what you like, you may just catch it

LOL

Love you ME

PS Roy came to get his dad's truck to pick up the camper and took Austin with

him! So Austin gets to spend the day with just Daddy, no Trey, no Patty, just

Daddy & Austin. (Austin started to cry when Roy tried to leave...I think that

helped LOL)
