Guest guest
There are several in the midwest. Here are a couple options...Here's on in Iowa although I have no idea about her reputation:Carolyn R , MSN, BSNPrevention & Healing of Iowa6901 Hickman Rd.Urbandale, IA 50322ph: fax: Here are others you may want to consider that may be relatively close to you (he has a great reputation): Baptist, M.D., Ph.D.Allergy Link6806 West 83rd St.Overland Park, KS 66204ph: fax: And in answer to your question about immune, if he doesn't ever get sick that would tell me to investigate because we should get sick. Getting sick too little or too much are both not good signs.Cheryl My son, age 9, was diagnosed with PDD-NOS 4 years ago. He is verbal, in a typical school with an aide for math and science. He is high functioning and he may even have Asperger's, but his IQ testing has not been as high...so I'm not sure. I tried the GF/CF diet 4 years ago, but wat not very strict with it and didn't stick with it for very long. After reading 's new book we are committed to trying again. 4 years ago I found myself in the same boat as everyone else, with there being very little resources after the diagnosis. We did occupational, physical and speech therapy. He is doing very well really. He has some language and reading delay. He tests one year behind that of his peers. He hand flaps when he is excited. He has an incredible memory and can repeat any movie or cartoon. He is obsessed with movies. No sleep issues. Likes routines. He has ok eye contact, but does have problems with attention. He does not have any constipation issues that I am aware of. He does seem bloated and has a lot of gas. I feel he is so close and may not need all the biomedical treatments, but I don't even know where to start for tests. I know I need a DAN doctor, but there is only one in Iowa. We are willing to travel, I just want a good one. Can you recommend a really good DAN doctor somewhere in the midwest? One more thing. I've read a lot about these children's immune systems. I don't know if it's because he is high functioning, but he is never sick. Does this mean he doesn't have issues with his immune system? Thanks for any help you can provide. Guest guest
we LOVE LOVE LOVE Baptist in Kansas city and well worth the drive, that is who we recovered our son with. he takes insurence as well which is great. he is an immunologist/allergist and he can do all the allergy stuff depending on who your insurence is and get it covered. gas would mean IGG issues most likly meaning some foods need to be taken out that he is eating, you may be able to figure out which on your own by doing a food chart of what he has eating and when you see gas. same for the bloating. my son also had the movie obsession that went away with vit A. he was a measels regressor and measels eats up the bodies supply of vit A leaving our kids short in it, which is why it helped my son. hand flapping when away with yeast treatment *which can be another reason for the bloating, we would see it with yeast feeders being eaten, sweets, fruits and carbs. being that you don't have sleep issues it MAY not be the issue. hope you find alot of answer here to help you Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 High functioning son needs DAN doctor in midwest My son, age 9, was diagnosed with PDD-NOS 4 years ago. Guest guest
Hi, If you don't know where to start and your son has gut issues, then the OAT test is a great one. It shows digestion, enzyme stuff and yeast, fungus, viral and bacterial as well as a lot about vitamins nd minerals. That may show you what is going on with the gas and bloating. Well worth the cash. Good luck > > My son, age 9, was diagnosed with PDD-NOS 4 years ago. He is verbal, in a typical school with an aide for math and science. Guest guest
That's interesting about Pfeiffer not actually being DAN. I have a friend that takes her son there and their program models a lot of what we are doing with our DAN, as our kids are really similar. I didn't know that though. :-) Thanks! > >> > >>> My son, age 9, was diagnosed with PDD-NOS 4 years ago.
