Guest guest
Hi everyone! I have a question. Have any of you been refered to a neuropsychologist and why? I am going blind and deaf and have an appointment tomorrow. The more I read on this the more angry I get. I can see them wanting to find out if it is the chiari causing all this but are all them tests neccessary and in what way could a neuropsychologist be of any help at all except to point out more things that may be wrong with you? I really do not want to know. All I want is help with the eyes and ears, So, I have brain fog some days but some days I am bright as a button. I do have a few memory issues and also forget how to spell BUT I have good days too. I remember to pay my bills on time!!! Kind of miffed here cause I like my doctor but read my chart and nowhere does he mention I had my spine fused, have congenital spinal stenosis or any of the other important things. They are saying I have glucoma but they are not certain about that either according to the eye doctor. This appointment is 50 miles away and will last the whole entire day and I hate to go anywhere due to the pain it causes in my head, neck and back. Not to mention snow and ice on the roads. And I am not crazy or dottering in any shape or form. Doctor said it was to prepare me for the future,,,whatever the heck that meant and he says they would be the ones to get me the help I may need for the ACM, eyes, and ears. OK, may be a bit more upset then I need to be but after researching this it just strikes me wrong unless I am reading the wrong web pages. Not an idiot here for darn sure! Let me know what you think on the Neuropsychologist. I tend to walk out on doctors who will not take the time to have at least a basic understanding of the ACM. The last neuro I saw was to see if I had EDS and when I got there after waiting for two months for said appointment he did not know what it was or how to test for it, He told me to take the 50 mile trip back for another appointment with him when he found out.He also asked me what Arnold Chiari was. Needless to say I did not bother returning. Pretty much have had it with anyone with neuro in front of their names and psycholgy after it makes it that much more scary. Not trying to bash any profession but have not had the greatest experience thus far. One says get surgery and one says don't. Another says they do not think that ACM is causing the pain but I ought to take depression drugs to make it go away. OH, and saw tension headache on my chart too so am furious here. As I stated I go NOWHERE cause every movement makes my head hurt. OK, I am wound up here so please reply with your thoughts on this. Thanks! Oh and also my chiari is a 7 or 12 depending on who reads the MRI.
