Guest guest
Hi , I gave it up years ago. Made my stomach feel yucky and gave me the runs:-) Therese > > ... do any of you with gut issues drink coffee and feel okay from it? Decaf or regular? I will admit it's my main vice, though it's loaded with antioxidants too. I try to limit to 1 cup at most per day, and go without some days, and only decaf other days. I also don't drink regular within 2 hours of taking my thyroid pill (only decaf). > > Some days it bothers me more than others. I do wonder from time to time if I'll ever be able to have a consistently good relationship with it! > > >
Guest guest
, I drink coffee ONLY to help me go to the bathroom. Without one cup in the morning, I can't go for a week! With one cup each morning, I go each day. Coffee has helped MY gut immensely. I had to go to a GI doctor and have a colonoscopy because the gut/constipation/hemorrhoids were so bad! GI doc recommended coffee as well as a nutritionist....every since, I have felt MUCH better! I was raised in a religion where coffee is unacceptable, so I've had to overcome internal conflict. I've also noticed my thyroid symptoms are MUCH BETTER with my one cup of coffee in the morning. So, it's helped me with my gut and with my thyroid issues. Guest guest
Hi - I realize this is a little bit of an old post, but....I drink coffee everyday. I make half caffeine and half decaf. I drink about 2-3 cups a day. I don't ever drink caffeine after noon, as it will keep me up at night. Otherwise, I have no problems with it. How are you otherwise? Have you gone gluten free? Guest guest
Hi Miaja and Lori - thanks for the responses. Miaja, good to hear you're still out there! How are you doing? It was interesting to hear the response posted a while back that coffee actually helps some people in their digestive issues. I am still drinking some but am off the acid reflux pill. Staying vertical after taking my Levoxyl in the mornings seems to have helped my esophagus. Lori, I'm sorry to hear about your rough journey - I can definitely relate to coffee being the only thing to get my energy up at times. I'm not really sure if it's the thyroid or age though. Are you looking into getting your thyroid dosage raised despite what the tests say? Or adrenal tests/ treatment? I have been gluten-free for about 9 months, Miaja - I imagine I will be for life. > > > > ... do any of you with gut issues drink coffee and feel okay from it? Decaf or regular?
