Guest guest
I know a lot of you are concerned that the intensity of the new Capture the Power workouts is not as high as the Advanced workouts in terms of Cardio levels. This is true. However, speaking as someone who previously did only the Advanced ones on a regular basis, I want to say that I find these new workouts to have a different kind of intensity. Instead of super double-time kicks and punches that left my cardio level way up there, I find I am now getting more of a " burn " with these new workouts. Whether he's using the balls or not, seems to be focusing A LOT more on resistance training and feeling your muscles (arms, legs, whatever) work. I am not gasping for air at the end of these, but the next day my triceps, biceps, forearms, back, shoulders, butt, legs, quads, hamstrings really feel the workout - they are actually sore. Even my fingers got a little sore from squeezing those 1/2 pound balls. Anyway, the difference for me with these new ones is that I get more resistance training than in the Advanced workouts which mostly focus on Cardio. Not that I'm not getting a Cardio workout also with the new ones, it's just not as intense Cardio level as Advanced. I think these new workouts are a great addition to have for those days you want resistance/strength training AND your Tae Bo at the same time! Hope this helps a little. Guest guest
I know, I thought they were a pound too. Is there any point at 1/2 a pound? I hope I can feel something when I use them. :-) What is the difference between each of the videos in the new 2004 set. Also, the one video is just introduction, correct? Is there anything worthwhle in it or can I just skip it? Best wishes

I guess we don't know everything about these tapes yet, but that makes it even more exciting I think! :-) Stpehen
Guest guest
thankyou sandie. hmmmm.... im not sure what to think about that. does everyone actually get an effect from using these 1/2 pound balls?? im sorry but they sound kinda wimpy to me...lol. *~*~*~*~* Carolyn RE: They're 1/2 pound each. --- Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
I'm not sure if I'm going to explain this right. For example, I did Power tonight and we used the ball for most of the workout. Then we put them down and did some punches, you could feel the difference from not having the balls in your hand. I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but the way the workouts are and how he has you use them, it makes the difference. Guest guest
> Also, the one video is just introduction, correct? Is there anything > worthwhle in it or can I just skip it? , In the new Foundation video, he goes over the different numbers that he uses now: 1=Jab 2=Cross 3=Hook 4=UpperCut 5=Front Kick 6=Roundhouse Kick 7=Side Kick 8=Back Kick The numbers aren't a necessity.....you won't be lost if you don't know them, but it helps to know them so when you hear say 1 you know to do a jab...but he uses both terms, so you won't be lost if you don't know the number system or are just getting used to it. On the DVD each section is broken down...upper body, lower body and Stretch. The stretching part is really nice.....much longer than before with just and Shellie leading you through a Tai Chi type stretch workout. I'm not sure exactly how long it is (anyone know for sure?) but I'd guess it's about 15-20 minutes. It's really beautiful interaction with Shellie and (take into consideration I've only watched..so I can't give any info on how effective it is..LOL). I don't think you can get the other videos without the Foundation video...unless you are getting them separately on eBay or something. Carolyn, I think the effect is that these balls are squishy, so most of the time when you are holding them, is having you flex your fingers by squeezing the ball the whole time. So, when you are punching....you are squeezing the ball and doing little contractions (does that make sense). Same thing when you are doing any of the arm work..it's not just that you are holding 1/2 pound in each hand, but as you hold the isometric contraction, you are squeezing the ball. So, that adds a little bit as well. I am going to try to do some of these videos next week at work. My daughter is going to TN to visit her dad for the holidays So, I'll have some more free time to try to do these workouts. I showed them to some of the people I work with and they said they had seen balls like that before. I think they mentioned looking at places that sell yoga equipment. I'll try to do some research and look around for them If I find anything similar..I'll let you guys know. I also emailed Shellie to find out if we could order mass quantities of just the ball..so I could get them for my classes. She hasn't replied yet, but if she does and we are able to order them...I'll check here to see if anyone wants them

Guest guest
I'm not sure how long it is either. Haven't done it yet. Was thinking about maybe doing it on Sundays, just to do something. But definitely plan on doing it with the NCP workouts where there's little or no cool down and don't want to do something on my own. wrote: On the DVD each section is broken down...upper body, lower body and Stretch. Guest guest
Thanks , I knew you'd be able to 'splain what I couldn't. I was still trying to keep the combos straight for my notes. And couldn't think of how to 'splain right what it is that you're doing with the balls. That would be great if you could get some. I'd love to have a few extras as sometimes I have workout partners and we all can use them not just for these, but other workouts. wrote: Carolyn,I think the effect is that these balls are squishy, so most of the time when you are holding them, is having you flex your fingers by squeezing the ball the whole time.
