Guest guest
, how is your blood pressure. You could very well have orthostatic intolerance. A tilt table test is the diagnostic procedure used to figure this out. I had drop attacks and syncope from POTS (another name for orthostatic intolerance). The feeling I had when I had a fainting episode from POTS was dizziness, light-headedness and weakness. A drop attack for me was different. I would first have an aura. I would get a metallic, chemical like smell, then I'd feel a sudden onset of unexpected panic. Immediately after the sensation of panic, I would start to feel as if the world was pulling away from me, or as if I was suddenly in the bottom of a deep well. I could hear things, but they sounded very far away. I was conscious, in a way, but could not move my body at all. it was even hard to breathe. I could see, but nothing I saw made any sense. After the drop attack, I would be exhausted and confused for the rest of the day. You need to get a tilt table test to see if you have POTS. i do not know if an EEG can pick up drop attacks. My neurosurgeon told me that EEGs could not detect them. That was a few years ago, so I don't know if that changed. I hope that helps. Pam M.
