Guest guest
, Thoughts and prayers are going up for you and Bill. Hope things go as needed either way. We are here if you need us. Hugs, Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine. Dad is in the hospital Well, things had been going along pretty good for the last year. Finally got the level of care where it needed to be and my father seemed to be doing reasonably well. Have certainly enjoyed many, many good times with him. Yesterday, despite my resolution for " no more hospitals " , we found ourselves in need of emergency care. This was just too much for the NH to handle. High fever, his heart was racing, he couldn't breathe and jerking. They still don't know what it is, possibly aspiration pneumonia or some other bacterial infection. Also, his normally high blood pressure has now bottomed out. I hope that not too much damage has been done. I've seen him rally so many times, that I am hoping he can do it again. But if it is his time, I hope he goes peacefully. I have all of the bad meds listed as an allergy, but he was so out of it that I don't think he will have his usual episodic delirium. No one there had ever heard of LBD... " I've heard of dementia, but not LBD " ...sigh. Well, I'm hoping for the best. It's nice to have this support here. Take care, Daughter of Bill,

Guest guest
linda, my dad and i went on that roller coaster ride too after his hip surgery, aspiration pneumonia twice, pulmonary embolyis once, bp bottoming out, it sure is aggravating, and frustrating. i wish you and he peace in dealing with this part of the roller coaster ride and like i did for my dad, i wish that His will be done swiftly, whether it is for Bill to bounce back yet one more time, or if it is for Bill to go Home. either way, please dont forget to take care of yourself too. i did find that when dad was on the down hill slope of the roller coaster that when he was asleep i would share stories of the past with him, and he seemed to rest easier. just a thought hugs, sharon a-m ---- ljrob09 wrote: Well, things had been going along pretty good for the last year. He had a 2nd bout of aspiration pneumonia and uti 8/05. Guest guest
Dear friends, Thank you to all of you have sent your thoughts and prayers...they mean a lot. I too am praying for his comfort. My dad has always been a fighter and I can tell now he is giving it all he has got. He has had a heart attack, pulminary edema and congestive heart failure. On top of that he has a UTI. His blood pressure is very low. But he is getting his rest and even managed to eat a little bit!!! He was fairly unresponsive most of the time today, but it warms my heart to see him eat. It gives me a glimmer of hope. And I pray. I actually feel blessed and grateful. I feel a little more at peace this time around...maybe because I have already had to make some of the hard decisions before and they still seem like they fit somehow. Or maybe because I've seen him look like this before, although not with as serious of an underlying condition, and i've seen him rally. Time will tell. I also pray for strength and courage. Thank you all for being here as we go through this journey together. Although our paths are varied, there is strength in our collective wisdom and support. , Daughter of Bill,

Guest guest
Dear You are in my continued thoughts and prayers. So many things at once. He must be a fighter! It is a good sign that he is willing to still eat. My mom rarely opens her eyes, but she still manages to eat all her food most of the time. She continues to gain weight and thrive. She almost never tries to talk now either. She is in a sad place, but keeps on trying. I guess the fight is what they have left. What a great man he sounds like. Guest guest
Hi June, From all outward appearances, my dad does not appear to be suffering too much. Today was better than yesterday, as far as his " alertness " . More awake, eating, and trying to talk...some of it understandable, some not. But I can tell he has a lot on his mind. His condition is serious. In addition to the heart and edema issues, his low blood pressure is causing renal problems and sepsis. None are good signs. What they need to do for the lung edema worsens the kidney issues and vice versa. At least I do not feel compelled to hook him up to every machine known to medicine and all of the dizzying whirlwind of trying to fix something that may not have a solution. He is in a quiet, peaceful room right now, has his caregivers who have a love for him, and we are doing the best we can. Thank you for your thoughts and wishes.
