Good Morning,

I am new here and was hoping to find a solution to my 2.9 year old

constipation issues. He has been on Glycolax since he was 1.5 and he

recently has starting to cross his legs while pooping. He got backed

up and we had to go to the emergency room and they gave him a fleet

and we were sent on our way. Went to a specialist and they upped him

Glycolax to twice a day (horrible outcome) and put him on a liquid

laxative for four days to clean him out. After day one with the

second dose of Glycolax he starting having massive crying tantrums, I

am talking 3 a.m, screaming for 45 minutes and then finally calming

down enough for me to hold him. It was really scary. I finally put

it all together on day 3 and we stopped the second dose of Glycolax.

He is much better, but I would like to stop the glycolax all

together. I am looking for any other options that are out there? I

have been reading the past messages and I don't know what MOM or

probiotics are? If someone could share that with me I would

appreciate it very much. We cut his milk intake and I am giving him

the four p's and it seems to be helping so I am wondering if I should

take him off the Glycolax all together??? Sorry this is so long and

thank you for reading this.

Welcome, sorry to hear about your son. This is very typical with Miralax and I can't even begin to tell you everything. Please read over the archieves in the files section. You can go there by clicking on my group in the blue box inside an e-mail.

Miralax and Glycolax are ONLY to be given ONCE a day...........this is imperative! The were going against the protocol there...........

You don't need to wean off, if you think it's causing adverse reactions, simply take him off. There are many people who spend numerous hours sharing their own stories here...........The behavioral thing isn't their fault, there are many people that will jump in here and let you know, you're not alone. I'll post the FDA adverse reactions for you, there is another in the files section, titled "non-ingred" These came from the FDA..........This medication causes many things to happen to the body that the doctors don't even know, there is a lot of research on what it does if you look it up. Your physician can look up the safety and effectiveness of PEG, but because the protocol states it's not absorbed, they've never took the time to look.

Go with your gut feeling and don't feel pressured into what they are telling you to do, I'm gald you found us!

Here's Kirkman's, but you can get probiotics at any health food store. I like these because they work and they are easy for a child to chew..............
