I have a 3 yr. old daughter that has been on Miralax for close to 1 1/2 years. My daughter has had chronic constipation since birth, and the doctors have never said anything is wrong, and we have tried everything to try and help her. She has used prune juice, Mineral oil, flaxseed oil, lactulose, and is now on Miralax. The Miralax works well, but I do not want her on it permanently. The only side effect I see so far is when she comes off of it, her stool is hard within 3 days. My daughter is not a daily pooper, she usually goes every 3-4 days. I was wondering if some of you could fill me in on the information and side effects that you have found about the long term use of Miralax. Of course my doctors have said it was safe to use forever, but both my husband and I are not that naive.
