Well here is an interesting phenomenon. Those of you who have been on this list for a long time know that I have been doing around 7mg of E2 compounded in olive oil. Ever since 2005 I have been having high E2 readings, in the 400s. Drives my doc crazy, but I felt great! Recently I had a bloodtest done for E2 and it was 40!! A phenomenal drop! I had noticed more urinary incontinence, which is always a sure sign for me of low E2. But was still doing around 7mg/E2/Day. So whats different since my last testing: I added Testo 1mg/every other day in the mix I raised my iodine from 12.5mg to 25 mg. I also take St. 's Wort (topical in oil) that I put on nerve damaged leg from slipped spinal disk. There is one other piece of the puzzle. I have been using Women

International Pharm since 2005 and my E2 in olive oil has always looked like cream. My last batch was much clearer. Could it be the compounding or is it the added T and iodine???? I will call Womens Intl Pharm and ask them if they have changed anything. I sure wished the iodine docs would have all women's E2 and tested routinely to see what it does to our estrogen and progesterone levels. Madeleen

Madeleen,

I have noticed a big difference in low-estrogen symptoms since I started iodine. I have not had my E levels checked since starting, but my eyes feel drier, and I have a lot of vaginal dryness, and also joint aching, all of which are symptoms that disappeared while using estrogen. My E dose has remained constant.

I am also wondering about androgen levels. I have always had extremely oily skin - not with breakouts, just oily. I'm 48, and still always had a shiny forehead in pictures - I mean like teenage shiny! Never had to use moisturizer - never! Nothing I ever tried - oil absorbing products, etc. helped. Since starting iodine, that has completely disappeared, and I actually use a bit of moisturizer now.

Tricia, I certainly have noticed dry skin. My back actually has prickly little spots all over it, gets itchy and irritating. I used to get that during the winter before I started doing fairly high doses of E2 in 2005. This is the first time it is back again. It got worse when I did my iodine loading dose using 50mg of Iodoral. Will be interesting to see where I am at now with the iodine. I just called Womens International and they are checking if anything has changed with my olive oil E, just to make sure. Madeleen,

The estradiol in olive oil that I have from WIP will drop out of

suspension, the oil at the top will become more clear and the oil at

the bottom more opaque. It it hard to tell with that dark bottle

though. I just wonder if they forgot to shake their supply before

they filled your bottle? I think they should give you a new bottle.

Dr. Brownstein does test my E2. We test it every 4 or 5 mos. I have been on 50 mgs for over 1 1/2 years and in October upped it to 100 mgs. That was when my hormones went wild. I just had my labs run again. E2 went up but the problem is that after my last labs we added E2 to my BH because I had gone into menopause. So who's to say what happened.

, this is interesting. Do you mind sharing your E2 levels before BHRT while on 50 mg Iodoral and what they are now? Madeleen ladybugsandbees wrote: Dr. Brownstein does test my E2. My oily skin has also improved, over and above the changes I experienced

from liver support. I assumed that iodine is an important ingredient

in fat metabolization. Hormone balance has seemed to improve as well

even though I don't supplement (except with homeopathics).

I'm going to get my MD to run hormone level tests. How resistant are

traditional MD's to testing? I have been going through my ND, but it is

getting expensive. MD's do blood tests, not saliva, do they not?

madeleen, i have been on 50mg iodoral since last january. this past july after 6 months on it i had lab work done, my E2 level was 375. this was on 3 vevelle dots (3mg). i have since reduced that dose to 2 dots (2mg). i am planning on having more blood tests done next month. I am still on the 50mg iodoral. if your interested i will post those results when i get them. i am 51 so i would have to say the iodoral did not affect my E2 level. (unless it makes it higher?)

im not sure how the vivelle dots compare to the E2 in olive oil, my guess would be the dots would be stronger. hope this helps, Sheryl

Ok, here it is for what it is worth. The problem you will have with me is that my ovaries were damaged after my last round of RAI which causes me to have irregular periods and issues with hormones. I am 42 and now securely in menopause. As my OB/Gyn stated so eloquently "The RAI fried your ovaries". Lovely!

2/20/06 - First labs with Dr. Brownstein (no Iodine or BHrt)

Estrogen (total) 146 ( 70-400 pg/mL)

Progesterone .7 (<1.4)

Estradiol 24 ( 9-175)

Testosterone 24 ( <81)

6/30/06 - 50 mgs Iodoral / Progesterone & Testosterone Cream (don't know the doses)

Estrogen, Total 191 (70-400)

Testosterone, Total 93 (2-45 ng/dL)

Testosterone, Free 4.3 (.1-6.4 pg/mL)

Progesterone 2.7 (<1.4)

Estradiol 42 ( 9-175)

7/04/06 - Special Estrogen test done from Age Diagnostic Laboratories (urine)

2(OH) Estrone 4.2 (2.20-10.90)

1 ??(OH) Estrone 3.3 (1.5-1.9 ) HIGH (sorry can't read the test name)

2(OH)/1???(OH)E1 Ratio 1.11 (1.01-2.43)

4(OH) Estrone 3.5 (2.30-2.71) HIGH

11/20/06 - 1 month of 75 mgs Iodoral / Progesterone & Testosterone Cream

Estrogen, Total 224 (70-400)

Progesterone 1.0 (<1.4)

Estradiol 24 (9-175)

1/31/07 - Back on 50 mgs Iodoral for 2 mos / Progesterone & Testosterone Cream

Testosterone, Free <0.6 (<3.8)

Testosterone, Total 25 (<81)

Progesterone 1.2 (<1.4)

Estradiol 16 (9-175)

7/28/07 - 50 mgs Iodoral / E2 & Progesterone & Testosterone Cream (FSH sinking into menopause)

Testosterone, Total .69 (.5-2.0)

Progesterone 2.2 (3.3-26.0)

12/1/07 - 100 mgs Iodoral 1 1/2 mos / Progesterone (100) & E2 (.25) Cream
