Guest guest
Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Keli and I have recently (within the last week) brought my mother to live at my house as we have decided that she can no longer care for herself. She had been in hospital for 2 weeks with a severe and resistant infection and what tehy termed " altered mental state " . Well her mental state had not been good for several months and her doctor had continued to treat her as if all of her symptoms were related to her several health issues. This time though her dementia has continued even after all of her other problems have been stablized. He diagnosed her with Vascular Dementia but after doing my own research it seems that many many many of her symptoms are like LBD. The only real difference is that her hallucinations are not visual for the most part, at least not anymore. It seems now that most of the hallucinations are auditory. I read somewhere that this is not completely uncommon but for the most part everything else I've read has said that visual hallucination are kind of necessary to make a diagnosis of LBD. Does anybody else have a LO that experiences mainly auditory hallucinations? How did you first cope when your LO was diagnosed. How do you continue to cope with the delusions and everything else. I feel as if I am going to lose my sanity as my mother continues to lose hers. I feel as if she is living in " hell " inside of her own mind and there is nothing anyone can do. No medications have worked thus far. Is there anything that anybody knows that actually does help? I thank you all so much for your time. God bless you all.
